Lucci, Michael Francis

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our father, Michael Francis Lucci on September 25, 2024. Dad was born in Fairport on July 13, 1927 to the late Frank and Phoebe Fiandaca Lucci. He lived in Fairport for almost his entire life, excepting the times he was in the Merchant Marine during WWII and the last few years while he was in care.

In high school he met a pretty blonde with great legs, our mother Joan Ferrin Lucci, who preceded him in death in 2010. They married in 1949 and had over 60 years together.

Dad is survived by his seven children: Michael Jr (Linda Krieger); Kathleen Desko of East Berlin PA; Richard (Ellen Avery) of Palmyra NY; Paul (Susan); Frances (Michael) Insalaco of Manchester NY; Martha (Calvin) Burney; and Mark of Macedon NY.

He is also survived by grandchildren Veronica (Mark) Kahn; Gerald (Sara) Desko Jr; Rachel (Leo) Tidd; Anmarie Lucci; Nicole (Chris) McClurg; Frank Lucci; Virginia Cook and Sarah (Paul) Abbey. His brother Phillip (Karen) and sister Lou (Michael) Baldwin grieve his loss. He was predeceased by grandson Dennis Lippa Jr.  Surviving too are 9 great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Memorial Service will be held October 3, 2 PM at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Road, Egypt, NY. A Celebration of Life reception immediately following at Fairport-Perinton VFW, 300 Macedon Center, Fairport, NY.

Mike was a past Commander of VFW Post 8495, enjoyed being in the honor guard and held posts at the American Legion Braman Post 1229.

He was a founding member of the Big Pit shooting club and was still breaking clays well into his nineties!

Known as the Swing dancer of the dance floor, Mike never lacked for partners and always gracefully danced to his partner’s level.

A long-time village employee including several years as police officer, Mike was severely injured while on duty resulting in many months of hospital care. He semi recovered, but his days as a patrol man were over.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Advent House: 1010 Moseley Rd, Fairport NY 14450 (theadventhouse.org) or to a children’s charity of your choice.

My deepest condolences to the whole Lucci family. Both Mike and Joan were such wonderful people. My first husband, Jimmy Wahlers and his family were so close to them, and to some of you. I have fond memories of them. Your dad was always so sweet and kind. I know he will be missed, but know that he’s happy to be back with his beloved, Joan. You’re all in my thoughts and prayers.
