JoAnn Lundquist passed away Feb 16,2022.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years “Bob”. She is also survived by her four children Debbi(John) Savage, Kathy(Dave) Voelkl, Mark and Scott Lundquist. Four grandchildren Holly, Andrew(Brooke) and Hannah Savage and Nicholas Lundquist. She was predeceased by her Mom Eva Leaman and her twin sister Jan Fiorello.
“Jo” had a zest for life and enjoyed being with people. She was born in Rockford, Illinois where she met the love of her life, Bob. They were high school sweethearts. They married young had kids young and lived a happy life.
They lived in Fairport NY, Highland Park IL, Westlake Village CA and then back to Fairport. She loved to travel back to Rockford to visit her twin sister Jan, older sister Mary and her Mom. Family was everything to her. She worked as a secretary at Martha Brown Middle School for many years and enjoyed being the social director there!
Students and staff would frequently hang out in the office to talk to her. She loved golf and in fact had two holes in one in her lifetime. She had dementia for many years but it didn’t stop her from golfing, going to the casino or dancing with anyone who would dance. She always wanted to visit her kids and grandkids. Her sweetheart Bob was her soulmate and caregiver. She complimented everyone she met and called them “cute”. Her family will greatly miss her but know she is reunited with Jan and Nana in heaven. Bob. Very sorry to learn of JoAnn’s passing. We certainly had some good times together a lot of years ago. Bob
Our hearts are broken at the loss of our sweet Friend! In my role as the Assistant Principal, JoAnn was my cheerleader, counselor, notetaker, mentor, activity co-planner, interventionist. She had ALL the skills and talent, empathy and enthusiasm that anyone could want. We laughed AND cried together as we problem solved, whether related to students, staff or parents. But we ended each day with a “High Five” salute to our collaborations. What a joy it was to have her as a friend and colleague. Bob and her family welcomed Jim and me into their world and we were forever going to the Lundquists for some gathering to share celebratory toasts. She invested commitment, thoughtfulness and joy into our collaborations. And Martha Brown was the winner of her commitments; so many memories feature her gift of LOVE. We will never forget her and send our deepest sympathy to Bob and her family. Bless you as you share memories of this amazing woman, our sweetest friend.
Thanks so much! She loved you and all the people from Martha Brown. She hated to retire from there . Would have kept working for ever. Thanks for your friendship to her and my Dad! Deb
JoAnn was my very first secretary as I transitioned to the principalship in 1995. JoAnn loved her job, she loved the people she worked with and she loved her family! For many years I loved to hear about her children and ultimately her grandchildren. She was the heartbeat of our school back in the day and was a always willing to help out with any task at hand. She was a great support to me in my early years of my principalship. Her organization, hard work, sense of humor and witty personality lit up the main office and everyone around her. She loved to work hard and play hard and was always at the center planning many of our social activities. She enjoyed her return visits to Martha Brown after she retired to spend time with the staff she loved and who loved her back. Thanks to all of her family for sharing her with us and for the wonderful memories that she helped all of us create during her years running the main office. God Bless you JoAnn.
Thanks Dave. She had such fun with the Martha Brown gang!
I was so sorry to learn of Joanne’s passing. I have so many great memories of her presence in the main office at Martha Brown. She was always laughing, and planning and greeting and anything else you could think of. She knew about every system in the school and was our “go-to” person for every good and bad situation that took place. My condolences go out to Bob and the family. She will be missed..
Thanks Dave. She had such fun with the Martha Brown gang!
Oops Merrily. Meant to say thanks to you but I messed up! Thanks for your kind words.
Our thoughts are with JoAnn’s family and friends at this sad time.
My deepest condolences to Bob, Debbie, Kathi, Mark and Scott. Joanne was fun, loving, and kind person. She was always the life of the party. I have many memories of Bob and Joannne ( with my husband Charlie) from the Kodak events and other social functions. My kids adorned her. When they were little and we would go out, she always would bring them a gift or treat whenever they came to the house. Working at Brooks Hill and Martha Brown, Joanne always looked out for my kids. Many times if they would forget
their lunch money, they would go in the office to use the phone . Instead she would just give them the money!! May she rest in peace.
