Dick was a good man, husband, father, step-father, and grandfather. He took on a lot when he married my mother and her five children. He was a hard worker and he taught me many lessons, especially car repairs and home improvements, which I value today! He was not a very religious person like my mom, but he was always generous with his time and always willing to help others. He volunteered many hours at the food pantry in Fairport in his later years, which he enjoyed. Finally, I enjoyed my visits to his house when I was in town and we would sit on the back patio and have a smoke (a cigar for me and a cigarette for him) and either a glass of wine or a beer to go with it. He will be missed by many, but never forgotten, We love you, Man!

Thank you Dick for all the years you and my mom helped me & the kids. You helped with projects at the house, and many many other things, but most of all you were a male role model for the kids when they needed it most. We love you and will miss you dearly!

I was 10 when Dick married my Mom. You were brave taking on 5 kids in addition to your own 3. I realize as an adult what a task that was. Thank you for supporting us in many ways. Great memories at Holland’s Cove he updated the cottage so we could spend more time there. He ran the Euchre tournaments, and we enjoyed bonfires and boating. I joined the Air Force from his coaxing and in the end I met my husband Rick via the military in college because of that decision and had our son Brad, so forever grateful! Dick did not complain much and he recently quipped ” if I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself,” and he smirked. A lesson for all of us. Love you Dick and we will miss you. Proverbs 17:6

Thanks for the memories Dick. I remember how you welcomed me in to your family back in the late 1980’s. I remember countless days spent at Holland’s Cove, golf outings, the time I almost sank your boat. Thank you for leading Julie to the military. I will be forever grateful for how you raised such a fine daughter. I enjoyed our times bowling in the league in those early years. I always felt at home wherever you welcomed us. Thank you for serving your country, community, and those less fortunate at the Food Shelter. You will be remembered as a fighter, a person who never complained, and a patriot, I will miss our laughs and talks.

Thank you Dad, I know my life could have been a lot different had it not been for you and Bev, you both always tried to point me in the right direction, something I will always be thankful for.. I’ll always remember our trips to the cottage, with Julie, Karen, Rene, Perry and Andy singing songs in the back of the Chevy Impala all packed for the weekend at the cottage, boy was the singing bad but we had some good times. You brought me into a family that accepted me and took me in as one of their own, like you I love them all, very grateful to all of them but especially you for showing me how to be an adult. Thank you Dad you will surely be missed…

Dick you became a neighbor & friend when you married into the Peck family. Those kids & yours all mixed in together with the other 50 kids on the street & I loved them dearly. You were patient with Bev when she would trump your ace which I’m sure wasn’t easy!! Love to you all. Betty Durante

We will miss all those good times at the cove, all the laughs, Euchre tournaments, pig roasts, and clam bakes. The Hubbard cottage would not have withstood the test of time if it wasn’t for all your improvements. Aunt Bev was so excited when the toilet flushed, she even took a picture for the momentous occasion. You gave to your country, your neighbors, friends, and family. You will truly be missed. Love, Jim and Liz Voorhees

Lots of great times with Dick and Bev at Holland’s Cove. We loved calling him “Uncle Dicky” – lots of fun euchre tournaments, pig roasts and clambakes. Dick and Bev always welcomed you in with a warm heart. They always willing to help. Thank you Dick for serving for your country. You will be missed. Denise and Greg Palis and family
