Lorraine “Laurie” Mary Marriott, born on June 14, 1947, passed away on January 22, 2021. Predeceased by her father, Louis Frances Magin, mother, Frances “Elaine” Schopp, and step-father Michael Giannavola. Survived by her soul-mate and husband of fifty-one years, Dennis Marriott, her two sons, Paul and Peter, her five grandchildren, Madison, Tyler, Kodie, Peter Jr., and Natalie, her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Pat Magin (daughters, Mary Beth & Michelle), her sister-in-law, Diane Visiko (son, Chuck & daughter, Christine), her best friends Candy and Mike Jones (son, Spencer & daughter, Kerry), many cousins, extended family members, and an army of friends and acquaintances that loved and supported her throughout her life.

As the saying goes – to know Laurie was to love Laurie. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always seen with drippings on her shirt from the extensive time she spent cooking meals in the kitchen, supported by approximately two tons of vacuum-sealed food stored between four freezers! Though retired, the years Laurie spent working in the banking industry, the Wegmans Photo Lab, and Chase Farms were cherished and provided many great stories to share. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at Chase Farms, where anyone who came to the produce stand would leave as a new friend. Laurie’s tenure at Wegmans fed her love for photography and she always enjoyed printing her customers’ photos and watching as families grew and life’s events unfolded. Her work there also inspired the creation of special birthday banners for all five of her grandchildren. Laurie spent many family summer vacations in two of her absolute favorite places, Letchworth State Park and Lake George. The happy times spent there were shared with other family members & friends, and her love for them was passed on to two subsequent generations. Many people who were fortunate to be close to Laurie were gifted with lovingly handmade crafts that she created over the years. Laurie was also a threat with a Nerf gun, and had no boundaries when it came to eyeing up with one of her grandchildren! Laurie enjoyed sipping on a few “Creamers” throughout the day, and spending her evenings catching up on her favorite crime shows.

Due to the current gathering restrictions, the family will be hosting a celebration of life when it is safe for everyone to get together. Details will be forthcoming once restrictions have been lifted. To receive the Celebration of Life information for Laurie Marriott, kindly fill out the link below with your name & email address. I worked with Laurie at Chase Farms. She loved the farm. She knew a recipe for every fruit and vegetable grown/sold on the farm. Spring is always a very special time on the farm. It is the time the farm opens its doors for business. But more important, it was the time when Laurie and I renewed our friendship. This spring will be very different on the farm. Laurie’s presence will be missed. But I know, on opening day, she will be there in spirit. May God’s hands bring comfort and healing to your family.

I am privileged to have known Laurie through Pete and Amy. I enjoyed whenever she would come down to South Carolina to visit. We would chat away with one another, she was a wonderful woman who loved her family dearly. May she rest in eternal peace. Sending prayers and loving thoughts to the entire family ??❤️

When our farm market opens this Spring, the absence of Laurie will be felt. A smiling face, a warm, kind and generous lady. Not only an employee, but a good friend for many years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Please know that we share your sorrow at this difficult time.

I still have the Raggedy Ann doll that Aunt Laurie made for me 45 years ago. And I still remember the wooden spoon she threatened us with but never actually used. She’s been one of my mothers best friends all these years. The best testament to a life so well lived. Our deepest sympathy to Uncle Denny and the boys and their families,

Laurie was always happy and so interested in everything we were up to! I told Tony and Jackie the other day, when I little and was homesick on a cousin sleepover one summer night, she handled me with care. She just said she was happy I could come at all. She had big love for everyone! Please know I thinking of you all. Much love and prayers for your hearts. Love Susie

Laurie was a force to be reckoned with . She had a wonderful way of bringing out the best in people through laughter .. On Monday’s in the photo lab her saying was “bring it on” she also always loved discovering her next vacation through the eyes of many loyal customers who she naturally befriended. I’ll always treasure working with her, going out to lunch,we would be there for hours sharing laughs and stories . May you Rest In Peace.

Denny and Family, The sad news of Laurie’s passing is spreading in our neighborhood. You, Laurie, and we are some of the “original settlers” on Huckleberry Road. We do not like losing such a longtime, lively friend in Laurie. Time will bring you peace. That’s our prayer for you.
