Fairport – February 8, 2018:
Henry passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Born November 5, 1922 , Predeceased by parents, Vincent and Teresa (Piscini) Masciangelo; brother, Vincent and nephew, Vincent. Survived by beloved and devoted wife, Mary (DiVirgilio) for 67 years; their children, Thomas (Elena), David (Judy) and Jean (Brian) Kelly; brothers, Louis and Roger; sisters, Mae, Theresa Ciccarelli and Ida (Carl) Wells; brother and sister-in-law, John and Phyllis Virgilio; several nieces and nephews. Henry served in WWII with the 1629 Engineers Construction Battalion, US Army, Pacific. Lifetime member of the Perinton VFW Post 8495 and East Rochester American Legion Post 1917. Henry was a Fairport native and home builder.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 11 AM at St. Jerome’s Church, 207 Garfield St., East Rochester, NY 14445. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the VA Medical Center-Voluntary Service in honor of Henry Masciangelo VIST Program (400 Fort Hill Ave., Canandaigua, NY 14424) or Honor Flight Rochester, P. O. Box 23581, Rochester, NY 14692.

To know Henry is to understand why his was called the “Greatest Generation”. Henry epitomized all the qualities which made that generation so special. His exemplary service to family, community and nation exemplifies those who helped make The United States of America so great.

Henry was a wonderful Father-in-Law as he lived every day devoted to his family and committed to his work. His strength and character were truly amazing, always having a positive and happy attitude toward life. Those traits will live on in all those that knew him.
