“Matt was his family’s “rainbow baby”, coming into the world with boundless energy and enthusiasm. He had the brightness of two children combined and was silly as could be, never failing to make those around him laugh. An avid hockey player, Matt was in skates by age three. He was a talented player with the Perinton Blades, Pittsford Panthers JV & Varsity and The Rochester Youth Hockey League. Matt graduated from Pittsford Sutherland High School in 2010 and University of Buffalo in 2014. In his most recent years he attended countless festivals and concerts with his friends, seeking to experience everything as fully as possible. When he passed he was enjoying his job at DxID. Everyone he encountered in this capacity was impressed by his politeness, charm and quick wit. He and his loving girlfriend Jessica had just moved in together and were making plans for a bright, full future. Matt will be remembered by his close ones as exuberant, lighthearted and adventurous. He is gone much too soon, leaving behind equal parts joy in his life, and heartbreak in his passing. We will miss him dearly.

Outside the gate

And the autumn bells are ringing

But they’ll just have to wait” (Phish)”

    Jim, Pat and family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the pain and emptiness you are feeling. He was such a gentleman and so sincere when he spoke. He clearly impressed me the few times I had met him. Know that he is at peace with himself and that he will forever be watching over you from heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My heart is saddened by his passing. Over the years I have become fond of Matt not only as a boss or a hockey mate, but as a friend.

I had known Matt for the few months as he started working at DxID and we both shared almost the same schedule. I found Matt to be a super respectful and pleasant human, would always make sure to hold the door for me and always made sure to chat about something, be it the weather, rims on my car or just wishing me a good day. I could tell right when I met him the first time that he was a well raised, respectful and happy guy.
Matt, my man, hope the angels up there have welcome you with open arm and are taking real good care of you. You have taught me the value of starting the day with a beautiful smile every morning. Please keep smiling, the beautiful smile, up there my man. Heaven has gained a great one.

To Matt’s family : I am very very sorry for your loss and I hope and pray you can find some comfort. You raised a very kind respectful man.

My heart breaks for you. Your son’t beautiful picture in the newspaper called me to write. I lost my son last year to addiction at age 27. I pray for you and all parents like us who have suffered this loss. Please know that even strangers are thinking of you and know the depth of your sadness. My son is buried at White Haven and I will think of your Matthew every time I visit my Tyler there. I am so very sorry you lost your beautiful boy, too. I know the Lord saved my son from his misery when he and I failed. And have no doubt that your son will stay close to you in a very real way. Knowing that Tyler is still with me is what lets me keep going on.

    Pat,Jim and family,
I am so sorry to read about the loss of Matt. He was always a very polite young man who always seem to enjoy life. It is very sad that his life has been cut short but his spirit will carry on with everyone he encountered. It was a surprise seeing him last summer working for my families pool. Always a glowing smile. Rest in peace

I have been grieving here in California since I got the sad news. I watched Matt grow up from afar. All the darling pictures just danced in my head. Beautiful boy. My heart hurts……
I am still speechless and can’t imagine any words that would comfort right now. I just can’t shake the sadness I’m feeling and wish I were there to hug all of you. Today had to be so difficult. I just want you to know I’m thinking of you all and hope memories and time will ease this pain. Love you. Sorry to ramble.
