David A. McGill, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and selflessness that will never be forgotten.
David was a hardworking family man who cherished his wife, Merry McGill, and his entire family. He was the kind of man who would do anything for those he loved, always putting others before himself. If you needed him, he would drop everything to be there—no questions asked. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
David is survived by his loving wife, Merry McGill, his mother Joan, and his sister Sue. He was a proud father to Clifford (Jessamy), Dina, Donald, Christopher, and Shelby, and a beloved grandfather to Brandan (Jackie), Joshua, Brian (Nicole), Brittany (Christopher), Dylan, Jayda, Briana (Xavier), Ryan, and Alyx.
David was also blessed with a large number of great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great joy and love. His family was his greatest pride, and he never missed an opportunity to show his love and support.
He is predeceased by his father, John McGill, and his brother, John McGill Jr.
David was a man of simple joys, and there were three things he loved most: Coors Light, horseshoes, and camp. Whether he was sharing a cold beer, tossing horseshoes with friends, or enjoying the peace of Nor Wins Campground, he found happiness in the little things. He also shared a special bond with his loyal dog, Daisy, who was always by his side.
To say David was an incredible man would be an understatement. There isn’t a single person who met him that wouldn’t agree—he was one of a kind. His selflessness, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday March 12, 2025 at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd, at 11:00 AM, and all are welcome to attend. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life at Dolomite Lodge in Veteran’s Memorial Park, 1628 Jackson Rd, Penfield, NY 14526.
In honor of David’s memory, raise a Coors Light, toss a horseshoe, or take a moment to enjoy the simple pleasures—just as he would have wanted.
Rest easy, David. You were truly one of the best. ❤️
