Mary D. McLaughlin passed away peacefully on the first day of spring March 20 2026. She was 92 years old. Predeceased by her husband John William McLaughlin Sr. (USN-ret.) sisters Marcia (Ralph ) Zimmerman, Paula (Doug) Watts, recently deceased Pat (Richard) Ganascioli and half-brother Raymond (Bertha) Szabatura. She is survived by her son John William McLaughlin Jr., daughter-in-law Denise, granddaugter Lauren (Mike) Bifaro, grandson Sean McLaughlin, her sister Irene (Ken) Ayotte plus many nieces and nephews.

Mary was a Navy wife and lived on and around military bases across the country for many years. Her late husband John served in Korea and Vietnam as a corpsman. She learned independence as a young wife while John Sr. was deployed overseas. Upon retrement from the service they settled in the Rochester area to be close to her family.

Mary born Dixie, (a name she did not like) was always spirited, full of love, and never afraid to speak her mind. She had a playful, silly side that made everything brighter. She also had an extensive collection of rabbits art!. She enjoyed taking walks, playing Scrabble, singing, watching old movies, and laughing over the smallest, silliest things.

A private Internment will take place at Holy Seplucre cemetary. A celebration of life for friends and family will take place later in the summer.

Should you wish to offer a rememberance, please consider a donation to Wounded Warriors Project.
