Our wonderful mother and grandmother, Doris June McMahon. died peacefully of natural causes on October 14, 2025. She had a long and wonderful life, including many great times and lots of laughs along the way. Dorie was born on August 12, 1931 to her parents, Daisy Evelyn & Elmer James Vanderburgh. She had two sisters, Barbara (Vanderburgh) Fitts and Wanda Vanderburgh, and one brother, Ray Vanderburgh.
Dorie met her husband, Michael McMahon, in Rochester and they were married on June 27, 1953. She was predeceased by Michael, her husband of 60 years, her mother and father, her sisters and her brother.
Dorie is survived by 4 daughters, Molly Smith (Kelley), Sally Owen (Thomas), Kelly McMahon, and Polly Scott, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
She had a full, happy, and loving heart for everyone. She had a smile to share with anyone who wanted to share one in return. Dorie was an amazing mom and a wonderful wife to our father. She will be dearly missed.
Our hearts are happy to know she is resting in peace in heaven, embraced by our Lord and our loving dad.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to a charity of your choice in Doris’s honor.

I went to school with Polly and remember many happy times at the McMahon’s home. Mrs. McMahon was always welcoming and a sweet lady with a joyful laugh. Sending my condolences with prayers of love and peace to the whole McMahon family.
I’m just learning of Dorie’s passing and am so sad that she is gone. I worked with Dorie some 40 years ago and we stayed in touch, each year exchanging Christmas cards and letters with updates about our families. She had an infectious smile and giggle and was truly the BEST person I have ever known. She was most proud of her beautiful daughters and grandchildren and missed her “Mike” dearly. I am so sorry for the immense loss you all must be feeling this holiday season! She will be forever in my heart! ❤️
