After a rich life of 87 years and predeceased by her husband John McNulty, Judy passed on the evening of Thursday, May 7th, attended by her children John, Lauren and Matt, and daughter-in-law Aminta. If you had met Judy, you know she was pretty unforgettable! Very outspoken, strong willed, creative, passionate and involved, she left her mark in so many ways. The daughter of Bill and Loretta, she grew up in the Goodman Street area of Rochester in the 1940’s. As a teenager she worked bagging groceries, and never forgetting those skills, trained 100’s of unsuspecting grocery clerks over the years how to do it correctly. Always social, Judy met who would become her husband for over 50 years, John, by confronting him at an outdoor party as he and others were tipping over an outhouse.
In 1962 they found an 1850’s house out in Perinton, and through many projects (led by Judy and staffed by John, and fueled by endless GDSOB exclamations!), created a wonderful modern-styled home in the country for raising a family and having lively parties and holiday gatherings. Surrounded by sprawling, meticulously kept gardens, you could expect to be served plenty of beverages and tons of delicious food coming from her kitchen. She loved cheeses, desserts, and the latest hors d’oeuvres!
Early in their marriage she earned her undergraduate degree (and later masters) for teaching art, and spent over 20 years at Northside in Fairport, pushing her students to produce really fine examples of elementary school art. Proud of her work, she displayed many of her own pieces at home and continued creating new material including posters, announcements and cards using calligraphy.
Judy was always involved – in her children’s sports, art and music, in the Town of Perinton planning meetings, in their Cotillion Dance Club (it was a sight to see Mom and Dad dance – they were fantastic!), in Mountain Rise craft sales, Bridge Club, Rochester Garden Club, etc. At the end of her typically busy days, she wound down with her scotch-and-water or white wine, and then hours of reading and snacking on sweets.
Judy lives on in her children, her grandchildren Ana, Cassandra, Aidan, Jessica and Alex, and great-granddaughter Serena.

I’m so sorry to hear of your mom’s death. I have so many fond childhood memories of holidays at your house (or aunt Weezie’s) with her and your loving dad celebrating with grandma Irene and grandpa Bill. Sending all my love to you all. ♥️😢
Deepest sympathy to the family. Mrs and Mr McNulty were very close friends of my parents and Mrs McNulty was my art teacher at Northside school in Fairport. I never thought of myself as particularly artistic but she chose a creation of mine from her class that was exhibited and won an award. What a proud day! A gifted, encouraging, teacher and a wonderful and talented lady. RIP.
Judy was a wonderful sister to me and we had some fun times together. I will miss her.
