On May 31, 2025, Marcia, of Pittsford and Canandaigua NY, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family. Marcia is survived by her devoted husband, Nicholas L. Mendola; daughters: Maria (Clayton) Potter, Marlena (Ned) Sayegh, Marci (Daniel) Pitcher; sons: Stephen (Elaine) Mendola, Martin (Joelle) Mendola; twelve grandchildren: Taylor (Becca), Nicholas (Abby), Christina (Sean), Grace, Noah, Sam, Xavier, Marek, Jordan, Colette, Melanie and Matthew; great-grandson: Henry; sister: Andrea (John) Hinckel; sister-in-law: Jean Fuehrer. She is predeceased by her baby son, Nicholas; brother Craig, and sister Mary Beth.
Marcia was born to Wilfred and Marcella Fuehrer on March 12, 1942 in Auburn, NY. She proudly attended St. Michael’s School, Nazareth Academy, and graduated Nazareth College in 1964.
Immediately after graduation, Marcia married Nick, her best friend and neighbor from the age of two. In 1969, they moved from their childhood street, where they grew up doors apart, and built their home in Pittsford, creating the “Family Homestead” that embraced six children, extended family, international students, endless friends, and always included others to enjoy a home-cooked meal.
As a devoted mother, family matriarch, and trained social worker, Marcia lovingly nurtured her family; creating a warm, supportive home where everyone felt seen, heard, and cared for, while simultaneously fulfilling her vocation as a humble life-long volunteer. She worked to improve the lives of many internationally, domestically, and locally. Marcia was involved with fundraising for humanitarian projects in Africa, aid for children in Haiti and Latin America, sponsored Indigenous children, co-founded inner city after school programs, and held leadership roles at Church, on school boards, and in Girl Scouts. Marcia was determined through her work to alleviate pain, suffering, and hunger while striving to improve education and provide opportunities for the disadvantaged. Marcia’s legacy continues with the impactful ministry “Gifts of Love – Ornaments for Haiti” she pioneered 43 years ago.
Marcia will always be remembered for her passion to support family and others with an enduring spirit of happiness and eternal optimism. Her kindness, grace, selflessness, wisdom, and unconditional love will forever be cherished. Marcia’s unwavering commitment and faith, shared with her husband, allowed her to overcome life’s challenges while pouring out an abundance of love to her family, friends, Church and those in need. She personified the philosophy of “doing good, while doing well.” Marcia will be greatly missed. We pray she will be received by our Dear Lord and into the arms of her departed loved ones who surely will rejoice to be in her loving presence again.
A Celebration of Life mass will take place Saturday, June 7 at 9:00AM at St Louis Church, 64 S. Main St. Pittsford, NY 14534. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Damien’s Pediatric Hospital in Haiti online at www.nphusa.org/mendola or directly to St. Louis Church.

Remembering Marcia as the beautiful May Queen of Nazareth Academy who was always kind to everyone. It sounds like she also lived her life the same way. My deepest sympathy to Maria, Clayton and family.
I am so sorry to learn of Marcia’s passing. We met at Nazareth Academy and enjoyed so many things together in those 4 years as we were in the special accelerated class. She was definitely a leader person! We met at reunions and enjoyed every moment because I had moved away from Rochester! May God bring you comfort and peace at this time. Love to all affected.
My condolences to everyone in Marcia’s family, friends, co-workers and sharers in her many missions. She was such an example of doing God’s will and caring for His people. May her spirit be felt forever.
Our deepest condolences to all the family. Marcia was a truly exceptional woman who touched the lives of so many.

Dear Mendola Family,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. I have such fond of Mrs. Mendola, dating back to my grade school days at St. Louis. I remember how she generously volunteered her time, such as guiding my fellow students in preparation for our Sacrament of Confirmation.
What impressed me the most was how dedicated and engaged she was in teaching and mentoring young children. Her commitment to helping others learn and grow was truly inspiring. She exemplified Christian values through her actions, always striving to make a positive difference in the lives of those around her.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Warmest regards,
