Judy Ann Mullen, 82, of Victor, New York, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Judy’s life was a testament to compassion, creativity, humor, and unconditional love.
Born on July 5, 1942, to Sheldon and Emily Meaker, Judy grew up in a lively home as one of ten children in Syracuse, New York. From an early age, she embraced the role of caregiver, helping care for her younger siblings—a reflection of the nurturing spirit that defined her life. Fondly nicknamed “Doodlebug” by her father, Judy’s artistic spark shone early through her love of drawing. She found joy and peace in winter, her favorite season, whose quiet stillness brought her comfort and reflection, mirroring her gentle soul.
At just 16, Judy met the love of her life, Patrick Mullen. Two years later, they began a remarkable 52-year journey of marriage filled with laughter, resilience, and unwavering devotion. Together, they raised a close-knit family and created a home filled with warmth and joy. Judy took immense pride in her role as a mother to their children—Pat, Tim, Julie, and David—and found even deeper joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Judy made everything magical, turning ordinary days into celebrations. Every holiday and family gathering was made unforgettable by her special touch. Her kindness, creativity, and ability to make everyone feel welcome left an indelible mark on all who entered her home.
After losing her beloved Pat, Judy remained steadfast and strong, carrying his memory with grace and humor. Her quick wit, joyful laugh, and playful spirit never waned. The image of them dancing gracefully together lives on as a cherished memory for all who knew their love story.
Beyond her family, Judy shared her warmth with many others, working as a nanny and offering children not just care, but love, safety, and a sense of home. She became a treasured figure in the lives of those she cared for—leaving behind a legacy of gentleness and devotion.
Judy was endlessly creative, finding joy in music, playing piano, dancing, crafting, gardening, reading, and writing. In 2005, she published a fiction book inspired by her life’s memories—a lasting tribute to the richness of her experiences. Its dedication read:
“To the loves of my life: my smiling, self-esteem booster, spirit picker-upper, make-everything-better husband Pat, and our treasured family. There is no more.”
Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Patrick Mullen; her parents, Sheldon and Emily Meaker; and her siblings: Patricia Madigan, Sheridan “Butch” (Marie) Meaker, Michael (Mary) Meaker, Nancy (Richard) Smith, Timothy (late Patty) Meaker, and Arthur Meaker.
She is survived by her loving children: Patrick (Renee) Mullen, Timothy Mullen, Julie (Brian) Ruscio, and David Mullen; her grandchildren: Brittany (Jesse) Hubbell, Brian Ruscio, Nicole (Zach) Zimmer, Amanda Mullen, Patrick Mullen, Nicholas Ruscio, and Maxwell Ruscio; and her great-grandchildren: Hannah Hubbell, Abigail Zimmer, Mason Hubbell, Jack Zimmer, and Wesley Zimmer.
Judy also leaves behind her cherished siblings: Susan Dennis, Ronald (Chris) Meaker, and Gail (Dennis) Odrzywolski; her dear in-laws: Richard (Joanne) Mullen, Donald (Shirley) Mullen, Janet (late Dan) Iyzk, Joan (late Harry) Ryder, and Gary (late Marypat) Mullen; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.
Judy had a rare ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved. Her presence was a gift; her legacy, a light. Though she may be gone from this world, her spirit endures—in every flower planted, every story told, every laugh shared, and every heart she touched. Judy will be missed beyond measure but never forgotten. Her love lives on.
A private burial service will take place on Monday, June 9th, where Judy will be laid to rest beside her beloved Pat—reunited once more, surely dancing in heaven, “Until the twelfth of never”
A memorial celebration of Judy’s beautiful life will be held on July 19th, 2025, 12-4PM at

Aunt Judy was a special Aunt. So many laughs shared for so many years and we had our inside jokes too. Growing up with her in my life was almost like a second mom. Too many stories to put into words. So I’ll just say, I’ll see you in heaven at the tennis courts (she’ll understand) love you Aunt Judy❤️🙏
55 years ago, when I married into this family, Judy was the first-person Uncle Mike introduced me to. Jule you were the baby, and Mom was expecting David. Judy made me feel right at home. I couldn’t have had a better sister-in-law. Judy you will always be missed. Oh so many wonderful memories. You were one very special lady. I love you Jude, Mar.
Just found out Judy had passed and want to send my deepest condolences to the family. We met at White Haven’s grief group and she was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her love for family was evident to anyone who spent time with her. Rest well, my friend.
