James Anderson Patterson, of Fairport, NY passed away peacefully on December 31, 2022. Jim came into this world on April 11, 1948, the son of Kenneth and Marie Patterson. He had a younger sister, Suzanne, whom he loved deeply—even after her passing, he kept her memory close.
He loved his hometown of Kenmore, NY and expressed this often in many ways. He was a Navy veteran. Jim was passionate about his interests, and never did anything half-heartedly. He was an avid photographer, an enthusiastic golfer, collector of sports memorabilia and autographs, a youth hockey coach, enjoyed carving all different types of birds from wood, a life-long student of economics and finance, and volunteered at LifeSpan sharing his financial knowledge and guidance. Jim loved to travel which always included visits to museums, book stores, and good locally owned restaurants. He had a passion for learning, mentoring and getting to know others—he was very social and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Jim was a fervent fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.
Above all, Jim deeply loved his wife Avis (predeceased), her children Brenda and Andrea, and his grandchildren Renee, Lindsey and Ellison. Jim is also predeceased by his beloved Aunt Ruth, Aunt Gertrude (Sylvester), and cousin Sandra (Arthur) Coe. Jim is survived by his beloved family members Linda Coe, Diane Coe, and John Pearson, and by his faithful friends, Tim and Chi Chi Hoelscher, Ed D’Olivo, Jim Hayes, Jim Baumann, and Jim O’Brien, among many others.

Jim will be missed as a friend and a neighbor but never forgotten.. He is in Heaven with Avis and those who he loved here on earth. He is with our loving God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
JIM WAS A GREAT COACH ALL THE KIDS LOVED HIM!
I had the pleasure of coaching hockey with Jim for many years. He shared his love of life and the game with many young people, including my son.
He will be missed, my condolences to his friends and family.
Jim & I, along with 3 other coaches, ran an instructional hockey program for 22 yrs. through Perinton Youth Hockey. He was awesome with the kids & the kids loved him back. It was always about the kids. I feel sorry for all the kids that never got to experience Jim as a coach. After we retired from the program I was happy that we kept in touch. It was a privilege to have Jim’s friendship. Jim’s passing is heartbreaking. He was a gift to all who experienced his friendship & love.
