In Loving Memory of Loren Frank Pelton 

August 14, 1945 – July 7, 2026 

Loren Frank Pelton, 80, of Fairport, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, while holding the hands of his daughter, Colleen, and granddaughter, Emma. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, service, and unwavering devotion to his family. 

Born on August 14, 1945, Loren dedicated much of his life to serving the Town of Perinton and the Fairport community as Fire Marshal and Building Inspector. His commitment to public service, integrity, and helping others earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and residents alike. 

On February 24, 1973, Loren married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Pelton. Together they built a beautiful life over 41 years of marriage until Mary’s passing in December of 2014. In 1974, they welcomed their only child, Colleen, who remained the center of Loren’s world. 

Family was everything to Loren. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Colleen Pelton, his grandson, Kyle Weishaar, and his granddaughters, Emma Weishaar and Hayden Kier. To his grandchildren, he was simply “Bompy”, a title he cherished above all others. He loved spending time with his grandchildren more than anything and proudly spoke about them to anyone who would listen. He affectionately called both Colleen and Emma his “Love Bugs”, a nickname they will carry with them forever. 

Known for his bright blue eyes, warm smile, and kind yet wonderfully silly sense of humor, Loren had a gift for making people feel welcome. He was an incredible husband, father, and grandfather who consistently put the needs of Mary, Colleen, and later his grandchildren before his own, always making sure they felt loved, supported, and cared for. 

Loren was an avid sports fan who could happily spend hours watching just about any game, from professional championships to local high school competitions. He was also a lifelong and devoted San Francisco 49ers fan, though he proudly cheered for the Buffalo Bills too, mostly to keep his grandchildren happy. 

One of Rochester’s best left-handed bowlers, Loren’s talent on the lanes nearly earned him a professional bowling career. He also treasured the many family vacations he shared with Mary and Colleen, especially their annual trips to Niagara Falls and Las Vegas, where they enjoyed visiting the casinos together. Summers were often spent at Firemen’s Parades and Carnivals, where Loren proudly marched alongside fellow firefighters and even drove the fire trucks, creating memories that his family will forever hold close. 

A faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fairport, Loren lived his life guided by kindness, and quiet faith. At home, he enjoyed the simple things, like his favorite food, chocolate chip cookies, which he would share with his favorite nurses, spending time with his cat, Angel, and watching daytime television. He never missed an episode of The Price Is Right, and often joked that he’d like to be reincarnated as the bell ringer on The Maury Povich Show..

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at both Unit 4.12 at Strong Memorial Hospital, and St. John’s Home of Rochester, whose kindness, dignity, and exceptional care brought comfort to Loren during his final days, and his family as well. 

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 13, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road, Fairport, NY 14450. A private interment will take place at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY 14534, on Tuesday, July 14, at 11:00 a.m. Those interested in attending the service at White Haven are asked to contact Colleen Pelton at (585) 200-6255.

Though his family will miss his smile, his stories, his unwavering support, and the love he so freely gave, they find comfort knowing that Loren is reunited with his beloved Mary. His legacy lives on in the family he treasured, the community he faithfully served, and in every cherished memory shared by those fortunate enough to know and love him.
