Fred and Cecilia Harrington gave birth to Dolores on October 9, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up with her three siblings Janet, Fred Jr, and Don. At a wedding of her cousin in Michigan she met Sam Perrone. They corresponded via letters and phone calls with Dolores eventually moving to Rochester, NY. She married Sam on January 14, 1956. Through the years she gave birth to seven children, Vince, Nancy, Steve, Julie, Susan, Sam, and Russell. She was a devoted housewife and babysat as many as eight other children along with her own on East Commercial St, in East Rochester. At the age of 47, Dolores became a widow. She took pride in her children, even when they drove her crazy. After Sam’s death she began working at the Genesee Hospital as a nursing aide on night shift until she retired in 1997.
Dolores was a devoted Catholic attending St. Jerome’s Church in East Rochester and more recently Church of the Assumption in Fairport. In 1997 she went on her dream vacation to Hawaii with her daughter and son in law. She was a lifelong Detroit Lions Fan and could be found watching football and yelling at the television on Sundays. She would always be upset when March Madness arrived and interrupted her “stories” on the TV. She could frequently be spotted at various Bingo locations in the Rochester Area. In front of a slot machine at Turning Stone, Finger Lakes or in Las Vegas when she could get there. She regularly completed the daily crossword puzzle in the D&C, at times with the help of her crossword dictionary, along with the Jumble. She enjoyed getting together with family and friends to play dominoes into the early morning for pennies. She took most pride in enjoying family gatherings at holidays and birthdays when everyone would be together, make a lot of noise, and enjoy being together.
