Predeceased by her Husband, Glen E. Peters.

Marilyn grew up in Penfield as the only child of Kenneth and Bessie Hill. She lived on her family’s farm where she helped in raising chickens and cows. Her love of animals began at an early age, and she absolutely hated when it was time to pluck and sell the chickens. Her love of horses, however, was short-lived. While riding a large workhorse one day it decided to take her on a detour under a tree, knocking her off. Of all the animals on the farm, the barn cats seemed to be her favorite, she loved to dress them up and push them around in a baby carriage.

At the young age of 18, while working at the Customer Service office at J.M. Fields department store in Panorama Trail she met her beloved husband, Glen. They married in 1960, and in 1961 they began building their home and family in Fairport. Marilyn dedicated her life to raising her children and caring for her family. Annual camping trips to Fish Creek Ponds were a favorite of Marilyn’s, where she loved to ride her bike and build memories with her family. She was always up for a game of cards, and rarely lost, even when playing with her grandchildren.

Marilyn was a nurturer, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved animals and animals loved her, always carrying a biscuit or two in her pocket should she come across a hungry dog.

Later in life, traveling the world was a shared passion between Marilyn and Glen. The couple embarked on a total of 89 cruises, including 12 World Cruises. In addition to cruising for pleasure, they consulted and escorted cruises for the Van Zile Travel Service.

Calling Hours will be held Tuesday April 28th from 10 AM until noon at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt Location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road, Fairport. There will be a prayer service at noon prior to departing for White Haven Memorial Park where Marilyn will be laid to rest beside Glen.

  1. Marilyn was such a lovely woman. We enjoyed hearing about all the vacations her and Glen went on and seeing the pictures. My children also loved having chats with her and will always remember when she gave them stuffed animals and fresh rhubarb. She will be greatly missed. Many prayers for your family.
