Piperni (Dye), Deborah A.

On Tuesday January 17th, 2023 Debbie passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the young age of 68.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  Her smile and laughter lit up any room. Debbie did everything for everyone and she will always be remembered as the selfless and kindhearted person she was. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but we will keep her with us forever.

Debbie was born on December 6th, 1954 In Rochester, NY and raised alongside her sister in Pittsford, NY by their late mother, Evelyn DeWolf.  She is survived by her husband and life partner, Sam Piperni, to whom she was married for 42 years, son Brett Piperni, daughter Shana (Anthony) DelVecchio, 2 grandsons Luciano and Massimo DelVecchio, sister Karen (Mike) Zoppoth, nieces Kim Russo and Pam Possehl and their families, and many lifelong friends.

After marrying, Debbie and Sam built their life and family in Victor, NY. Debbie retired in 2016 after a rewarding career as an Executive Assistant at Rochester Gas & Electric (Energetix) and later Griffith Energy and Superior Plus Energy. Debbie adored her grandsons and loved nothing more than spoiling them. She spent many Saturdays having coffee and shopping dates with her daughter. She was a loud and proud hockey mom and never missed one of her son’s games. Her children were everything to her. Debbie spent her weekends planting and admiring her flowers, visiting new breweries with her husband, and enjoying a good glass of wine with friends by the fire on her outdoor patio. She also loved to travel as much as she could. Debbie adored and loved her cats. Her sister and niece moved back to Rochester in early 2022 after being out west for 25+ years.  We are confident there was a divine reason for this as so many precious memories were created over the past year. Family was literally everything to Debbie.

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing doctors and nurses at Wilmot Cancer Institute and Highland Hospital.

Debbie’s family will receive friends Tuesday January 24th from 4-6pm at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd, Fairport, NY. Friends are invited to meet the family Wednesday January 25th at 11am at White Haven Memorial Park All Seasons Chapel 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY for her funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Debbie’s honor to the Wilmot Cancer Institute, 300 E. River Road PO Box 278996 Rochester, NY 14627

I am saddened to hear of Debbie’s passing. My thoughts are with you and your family. I worked with Debbie at Griffith/Superior. She was an incredibly sweet person to everyone. After leaving the company, I enjoyed seeing her posts on FB with the beautiful pictures of her family that you knew she loved more than anything. I pray you’ll find comfort in all of wonderful memories you have of her.

I just looked at FB and started looking at all the photos and thought it was a celebration of a Birthday or something. Then I started reading Shana’s post and my heart just fell and I felt sick. It cannot be. Not Debbie. I still see her smiling face. I cannot express my sincerest sympathy for your great loss! I loved this beautiful woman. Rip Debbie.

Debbie came in my life, thru Shana babysitting for us for many years & thru that relationship, she became a friend. There are no words for the profound loss her family is feeling, but she has touched the lives of everyone who knew her. May memories bring you all peace.

Sam, Brett and Shana, My deepest condolences to you as you honor the life of your wife and mother. I was lucky to have spent years with Deb on a daily based at Superior. She was the most dedicated and talented assistance an executive could work with. I have so many happy and warm memories of her on our President Club Trips and all employee meetings. She so loved her family, and I can’t remember a day that she didn’t talk about you. Here struggle is over and is with her mother. I am sorry I will be out of town for her funeral but know that I will be thinking you and praying for you as you celebrate and say until we meet again.

So sad to read of Debbie’s death in this morning’s D & C newspaper. I had the pleasure of working with a very young Debbie in the RG&E Substation department more than a few years ago. There was no question she was a bright light to our work days as well as being an excellent secretary. I particularly remember one lengthy report I had to submit that Debbie typed for me. In reviewing it, I couldn’t find one typographical error. Always a lot of fun, she took we older fellows teasing in stride and laughed along with us. My wife, Dora, joins me in extending our very deep sympathy to Sam and the rest of Debbie’s family.

I am so saddened to hear this news. Though we have not been in touch recently, I have sooo many fond memories of Deb’s help with Girl Scouts and always willing to lend a hand. Our daughters were good friends/scouts together. Deb will be missed, but never forgotten. Hugs to all her family.

This shook me to the core, as so many here, I grew up though middle school and high school with Debbie, and remember fun summer days meeting at her home, riding bikes, talking about our latest crush, exploring the world. I send out love to your family, and know how much she loves you all.
