Theodore (Ted) L. Pittinaro, Sr. passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side, at Strong Memorial Hospital on July 16th, 2021, at the age of 83 after a long and courageous journey with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Fairport NY, the son of Pamblo and Carmelia (D’arsonia) Pittinaro. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Diane.
Surviving in addition to his lovely wife, Carol (Harris) Pittinaro, are his sons Theodore Pittinaro, Jr. of Canandaigua, Scott Pittinaro and his wife Gail of Pittsford, a very caring daughter Pamela J. Broadwell and her husband Gary of Jupiter, Florida. Three grandchildren who he adored: Anthony, Tyler and Chloe. A brother Dr. PJ Pittinaro and a sister Marlene Pappalardo and her husband Placey all from Fairport. A foster brother Jimmy Fornataro and a special sister in-law Laurie (Harris) Spencer. Many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews (he adored you all).
Our Dad/Husband grew up in Fairport; however, resided most of his adult life in Webster where he raised his family. He was a true athlete and a proud “Red Raider” – Fairport High School class of 1957 and Ithaca College class of 1961. He loved sharing stories of his high school football and baseball days and when he tried out for the Yankees in 1957. He was also very proud of his days as a Fireman while attending college in Ithaca. He met his beautiful and precious wife Carol Ann from Canandaigua and just celebrated 58 years of marriage this past June. He taught Earth Science at Schroeder High School as well as Driver’s Education. He was a Realtor and owner of Metro Properties and Performance School of Driving in Webster where he assisted children and adults with disabilities. He was also a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus.
Ted, always wore a smile on his face! He had so much love in his heart, wisdom to share, and passion for life. He touched the lives of many in a very special and unique way. His laugh was infectious and his personality was contagious. He loved gardening, exercising, golfing, and hunting. He was meticulous about taking care of his home and garden, as well as his tractor. He spent most of his recent days refurbishing antique golf clubs. He loved to visit with his neighbors (especially with his little friend Deklin), friends, and his wonderful family. His true pride and joy was spending time with his grandkids and attending their sporting events. He will be sincerely missed at the hockey rinks.
We are saying goodbye for now. You have left a lasting impression on each and every one of us. You are the strongest and bravest man we will ever know. Thank you for being a wonderful husband and father. We will deeply miss you. Calling Hours will be held 4-6pm Thursday July 22nd at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road, Fairport. Funeral Mass Friday 11:15AM at Church of the Assumption, Fairport.
We would like to thank all the special and caring doctors and nurses who assisted with Ted’s care. In lieu of Flowers please consider a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and/or St. Jude’s Children’s Fund in Memory of Ted.

With great sadness Carol & your family for the loss of your devoted husband and father. He’s heaven bound with that great welcoming smile we were always greeted with.
Aunt Carol and cousins please know that while I didn’t see Uncle Ted in his later years I was able to have a good phone conversation with him a few months ago. We reminisced about Ithaca College, Aunt Diane, and football. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
What a great man my father-in-law was. . An incredible husband ,father and grandfather. If we could all live life and have passion like he did this world would be a much better place. He will be missed greatly by me and many many others. RIP papa.
In each stage of my life, Uncle Ted was always there. As kids, we would often swim in Uncle Ted’s and Aunt Carol’s pool on Buttermilk (circle or lane?). After swimming, we would head into the kitchen for lunch with Charlie Chips potato chips. He was my confirmation sponsor and I always liked talking sports. I was always impressed that no matter how old he was, he still worked out. We would talk Bills and I always said this is their year causing him to say, “yeah, right” in a warm sarcastic tone. I’m glad I had a chance to talk to him a few days before he passed. I told him I loved him and that he had to stay around because this was the Bill’s year. He said, “yeah right”. God bless you, Uncle Ted. I’ll be thinking of you when the Bills win the super bowl and the Yankees win their next championship.
Teddy was a wonderful loving cousin. He was especially close to my father. I always looked at him as an example to follow for every aspect of life. Father, husband, teacher, and athlete. He was a beautiful soul and he will be very sadly missed. I send my sincere condolences to the entire family.
God’s Peace & Best of Life

I am so sorry for your loss. I am mostly sad because I never made the effort to get to know him or the family. I know we are related and somehow all this time slipped away. We always think we have time. I loved reading all about him. Blessings and hugs. Rita
Carol & family, I am so very sorry for you loss. Ted was such an amazing person, he was always reinventing himself and trying something new, it was so inspiring to anyone who knew him. His spunk, spirit and true love for his family & life will be such a huge loss to everyone. Sending all my love & prayers to you all.
Mr. Pittinaro was one of those teachers you never forget. He also happened to teach me to drive a car in driver ed. Then popped up in my adult ed skiing classes, after I had graduated. Please know he touched many many lives. A very grateful former student.
Ted and I were friends and colleagues decades ago at HWS. We enjoyed many fun, wild times along with others like Bott, Catalino, Furnari, McCarty, Nahmias, et.al. Compared to today, in the midst of much fun — in many ways we represented the golden years of learning and teaching. My son, Jeff, sends his condolences; he remembers Pam, his prom date, fondly. I hope everyone can gain solace from his legacy.
Charlie and Pam are truly heart broken to hear this news of lose. We always enjoyed spending time with all of you. Wish you the best and you all are in our hearts.
Carol, I am so sorry for your loss. I had met your husband but did not personally know him. It sounded like he was a wonderful person who had many fine qualities. My sympathy and prayers for you and your family.

We were fortunate to meet Ted and Carol when my Cousin Gary met and Married their wonderful daughter Pam. With Ted’s outgoing and infectious personality we formed an instant friendship. Ted could walk into any room of strangers and instantly strike up conversations as if he knew them for years. I always envied him for that. I guess that’s what made him a great salesman. I enjoyed playing racquetball and golf with Ted and will miss dining out with him and Carol while in Florida. Ted loved telling jokes and always had Maria in tears when they couldn’t stop laughing. We will always have a smile on our faces when we think of Ted. Our hearts and our prayers go out to the entire family! With love!
Carol, Scott, Gail, Tyler, Chloe and All Family. We are so sad for your loss. Truly a sweetheart and a real gentleman! They say your children are the reflection of you and even though we only know Scott, Ted raised a great family. Tyler and Chloe’s teams will miss one of the Pittinaro Squad (both parents of Gail and Scott). What a sweet man. He will be not be forgotten.
Since we have known Pammy and your family …all we remember is what a happy man he was and how much love you all shared which was incredibly priceless .t was great to meet him and see what a special and sweet man he was . Thinking of the whole family! Keeping you in our hearts!
My sympathy to the Pittinaro family and “ditto” to all the comments. I’m sure when he and Hugo meet he will say “Hi Piasano”. We were vacation friends but established a long friendship. I will never forget his womderful personality. Sincere sympathy to all. Jean Musto
