Marla Joy Popielarczyk, 70, of Akron, New York, passed away on March 22, 2026.

Born in Canandaigua, New York, Marla was the beloved daughter of the late Stanley Sr. Bodine and Doris (Hughner) Bodine. She built a life centered around family, love, and connection, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Marla is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Popielarczyk. She was a loving and proud mother to Danielle Nicolini and her husband Adam, and Robert Popielarczyk and his wife Kim. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren—six granddaughters, Kaitlynn, Kelsee, Kerstin, Fearne, Allyana & Angelina and one grandson, Rowan—who brought immense happiness to her life. She also survived by 4 great granddaughters.  She treasured time spent with them, especially baking cookies and making her famous fudge, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

She is also survived by her siblings: Stanley (Tammy) Bodine, Daryl Bodine, Robin Bodine, Scott Bodine, Tracy Bodine, Rhona Funnell, Terri (Ron) Barone, and Stacy (Richie) Smith; her sister-in-law Patti Bodine; and her brothers-in-law Kerry Thompson, Michael Popielarczyk, and Gary Popielarczyk. Marla also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her brothers Kelly Bodine and Barry Bodine, her sisters Sherry Bodine and Doreen Thompson, and her parents.

Marla found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing bingo, collecting elephants, and above all, spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, her wonderful hugs and the love she shared so freely.

Marla’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
