Erich K. Postler, Jr.
Fairport: July 24, 2026 at the age of 59. Predeceased by his parents, Erich Postler and Elinor Reinhardt Postler. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer Postler; his cherished children, Victoria and Zachary; his loving sister, Elisabeth (John) Dineen; his niece, Abigail (Alexander) Buettell; his Step Mother Bruni Postler, his treasured grandniece and grandnephew, Elisabeth and Hayden Buettell; and the extended Bencus family, who embraced him as one of their own.
A graduate of Fairport High School and Rochester Institute of Technology, he became a second-generation leader in the family business, where he helped carry forward a culture built on relationships, trust, and treating others like family. He valued the connections he made throughout his career and took great pride in the friendships that grew from them.
Outside of work, he had a deep appreciation for music, especially the Grateful Dead and other live performances. Although both from the Rochester area, Jennifer and Erich met at a Grateful Dead concert in 1990 in Foxborough, MA, where their love story began. His love for music would proudly shine watching Tori’s french horn performances from childhood through college. He was an avid hockey player and fan, cheering on the Philadelphia Flyers and his local hockey team, the Rochester Americans. Erich and Zach made it their personal mission to visit every NHL team’s arena – completing 16 out of 32, a tradition Zach plans to carry on. Whether through work, music, hockey, or everyday life, he formed lasting friendships that he treasured deeply. His loyalty, generosity, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Friends may call to the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd, Fairport) Monday, August 3 from 3 -7 pm. A memorial service will be held August 4th at the Church of the Assumption (20 East Ave., Fairport) at 10:00 am, followed by a celebration of life at Monroe Golf Club . Private interment following service.

So sorry to hear about Erich’s unexpected passing. My prayers and sympathy go out to all his family.
The industry will miss this man, as much a gentleman as Erich,Sr. was. When I met Erich in the early 1980’s, he was just getting a start in the business, working literally, from the ground up. He showed a work ethic that he carried through his successful career. Though I left the P&J family in the early 90’s, I feel as though I learned a lot about being an honest and dedicated designer, engineer and contractor from everyone associated with the Postler Family. My heartfelt condolences to Jennifer, Victoria and Zachary as well as my friend, Beth and her husband John. To the entire family, may you rejoice in a life well lived but taken way too soon.
So very sorry for the loss of this exquisite man! I am so glad that I was able to cross paths with him. He will never be forgotten.

I had the joy and privilege of working with Erich for 29 years . He was a great , fun, and unbelievably humble man . We shared the love of hockey together. Recently texting all through the playoffs about the Sabres and Flyers . His words were passionate, entertaining and kind . My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Postler family . Great sadness I learned of the passing of a fair and respectful businessman. He treated everyone with dignity and conducted himself with integrity. I know this firsthand when I was the Business Manager with Local 13, and had many dealings with Erich.

I was deeply saddened by this terrible news of Erich’s passing. I had the pleasure of working as an employee and as a Business Agent/Organizer over the years. One of the kindest and most genuine that I’ve ever met. He was one heck of a businessman who treated everybody with the utmost respect. A true leader that will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Totally floored by this news of Erich’s passing. I had the pleasure of working for him and P&J for my last 20 years as a member of Local 13…..seems he was only a kid when I met him on South Avenue and wonderful that he carried on at the company! Will be missed for sure!

I am shocked and saddened to hear of this loss. I haven’t seen my friend Pickle in almost 40 years but I look back on our friendship with fond memories. We rode the bus to Brooks Hill together and were in Mrs Taylor’s 2nd grade class. We went through JP, Minerva and FHS together and spent many days and nights in the Village, Harts Woods, Periton Park, PowderMill and many Dead shows. I recall his light blue Chevette, so many Hackey Sack circles and many nights at Bristol Mountain for Ski Club. Pickle was always there to give a ride or walk me home from late nights in the Village. I have thought of him often over the years and am so sad we lost touch. He had a magnetic smile and a wonderful laugh. Much love and hugs to you Beth and to his whole family. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Erich’s passing. I spent my last seven years up to my retirement at the end of 2025 working for P&J.
Erich was such a gentleman, I enjoyed many conversations with him, he was a great listener and truly cared for all who worked for P&J and he made you feel like a true cog in the family business.

I had the privilege of working with Erich between 2022 and 2025 to support the company’s expansion. I’m deeply saddened to learn of his passing. Erich led with humility, honesty, and humor. Keeping the entire Postler and P&J family in my thoughts and prayers.
To everyone in Erich’s family please know that Erich was a man everyone in the architectural community loved to work with. As an architect myself I can testify to Erich’s helpfulness and wisdom as he helped all us young architects sort out the right way to provide the needed services in our designs. He was a teacher, mentor and wonderful friend to all. When I would learn that Erich and his team were on the job I knew it would go well and come out with excellence. That was his commitment.
