Constance “Connie” Pozzanghera passed away peacefully on August 11th of 2020, one week after her 96th birthday. A Celebration of Life will finally take place on Sunday, July 25th at 11 AM at White Haven All Seasons Chapel, Pittsford. Family and friends are welcome to join us and share their happy memories of Connie.
Connie grew up in Rochester and worked as a hairdresser for many years. In 1950 she married the love of her life, Sam. In addition to Sam’s job as a research chemist, together they managed the Clinton Bargain Store in East Rochester for many years. They had three children, Anita, Keith and Stephen who they raised in Fairport. Connie found a second career working as a Teaching Assistant where she taught kitchen/life skills and later, career skills at the Foreman Center (Monroe #1 BOCES) for special needs students. It was a passion for her and the kids loved “Mrs. P.” as much as she loved them. Connie became a widow after 52 years of marriage. Several years later at the age of 89 she made the big move to Fort Wayne, Indiana in order to be closer to her daughter. There she made new friends in her retirement community and was found most afternoons and evenings playing cards with them.
Connie loved to cook and bake, play cards, watch game shows and especially spend time with her family. She is survived by and has been greatly missed these past 11 months by her children and their spouses, Anita (Michael) Kowalski, Keith (Toni) Pozzanghera and Steve (Betsy) Pozzanghera, as well as her grandchildren Mia (John) Pendergrass, Evan Pozzanghera, Casey (Aislinn) Pozzanghera, Emaline Pozzanghera, , Derrick Kowalski and Melanie Kowalski, and great grandchildren Owen and Wyatt Pendergrass. Connie is also missed by her many nieces, nephews, and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
