Beverly Ann Pullis, 85, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024 in Rochester, NY. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Stonybrook, NY, she was the daughter of Charles Knapp and Margaret Gillies Knapp. After graduation from Port Jefferson High School, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in English at St. Lawrence University where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Bev married her high school sweetheart, Bill Pullis, and the two went on to share 64 happy years together.
Bev was a warm, outgoing person who made new friends quickly and loved music. A long-time member of Christ Church Choir in Pittsford, NY, she also sang with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s adjunct choir. A passion for helping others learn, she taught high school English on Long Island and later at Weston High School in Connecticut. Bev finished her professional career teaching English Composition at SUNY Brockport. Her volunteer work included the Women’s Council of the Rochester Museum and Science Center and the Junior League of Rochester. She and Bill made wonderful memories traveling the world and summering in Cape Cod with their family.
Along with her loving husband, Bev is survived by her children Timothy Pullis (Julie), Erica Ward (David) and Jonathan Pullis (Rebekah), 6 grandchildren, a great grandson and her sister, Elaine Blaire .
