Steven Ratcliff, of Farmington, New York, passed away unexpectedly on September 11, 2026.

Predeceased by his father, Halcolm Ratcliff, Steve is survived by his sons, Craig Ratcliff and David Ratcliff (Bethany); his beloved grandson, Toby Ratcliff; his mother, Margaret Ratcliff; and his sisters, Penny Robinson (Steve) and Sue Jenks (Alan). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Connor Robinson (Alyssa), Brandon Jenks (Rita), Haley LaTourette (Kevin), and his great-nieces, Cora LaTourette and Jessica Jenks. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Matt Jenks.

A lifelong resident of the Rochester area, Steve was a proud graduate of Fairport High School, Class of 1978. He went on to build a long and dedicated career with Weyerhaeuser / International Paper, where he worked for more than 40 years before retiring. Retirement gave Steve more time to enjoy what mattered most to him – his family, his friends, and the simple routines he loved.

Family was at the heart of Steve’s life. He made it a priority to visit his sons and grandson in North Carolina each summer, looking forward to spending time together and creating memories with them. He was also devoted to his mother, Margaret, and took great care of her, always making sure she was supported and cared for.

Steve will be especially remembered for his kind heart and extraordinarily generous spirit. He was someone who genuinely enjoyed doing things for others. He was always thinking about the people in his life and looking for a way to make their day a little better. Whether he was baking something to share, picking up a thoughtful gift, helping someone out, or simply checking in, Steve gave freely of himself. His generosity was never about recognition – it was simply who he was. He found happiness in making other people happy.

An avid sports fan, Steve was a loyal supporter of the Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, and Boston Bruins. He loved following his teams, keeping up with the games, and, perhaps most of all, talking sports with family and friends. Steve also treasured his daily meetups at the Fairport Starbucks, where he built a close circle of friends and enjoyed the familiar conversations, laughter, and companionship that became part of his daily routine.

Steve will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, loyalty, and the genuine care he showed to the people around him. He had a way of making others feel remembered and valued, and his absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Steve will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

  1. My deepest condolences to the family. Steve was indeed a kind and caring man. A favorite memory: Steve raved about a dish his mom always made for his birthday. So much so that I had to make it for my family and we loved it too. He didn’t really give me a name so we just called it “Steve Radcliffe”. One day my doorbell rang as I’m cooking and I hear, “Is that Steve Radcliffe I smell?!” Rest in peace Steve.

  2. Our condolences to all of Steve’s family at such a difficult time. Love and prayers to Margaret, Penney and Craig. Tom and Linda Rowley
