Stephen “Steve” “Stevie” Remington, 82, was called home by Our Father in Heaven on Monday, July 18, 2022.
Steve was born on April 13, 1940, to Sylvester and Marguerite (Carlin) Remington of Fairport, NY. Stephen married the love of his life Sandra (Schum) Remington on July 2, 1965. Together they raised 3 daughters Kimberly, Colleen (Kelly), and Karen. After serving in the army, including over a year in Korea, Steve proudly worked as a bricklayer then later as a business agent for the Bricklayers & Allied Craftsman Union Local #11 for 37 years. Faith, family, and service were the principles that embodied Stephen throughout his lifetime. From the age of 7 “shagging” golf balls and caddying to buy clothes, and sending military paychecks home to his mom, to always being there for every member of his family (immediate and extended) and friends in times of plenty and in times of need, Steve loved everyone with every fiber of his being.
Stephen’s pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was evident. Steve supported each of their endeavors through coaching, sitting in the rain on sports sidelines, attending concerts and many recitals. Name an event any of them were in, Stephen was there.
Stephen was a lifelong golfer, enjoyed bowling, playing cards and loved country music. More than anything, his passion was spending time with his family and friends.
While Stephen loved traveling with Sandy and visiting family and friends, Fairport was always “home” and he was always so proud of it.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Sandra, daughters Karen (Larry), Colleen (Darryl), Kim (Joe), grandchildren Alyssa (Mike), Cassidy (Justin), Dylan (Caroline), Remington (Victoria), and great-grandchildren Averie and Addison. He is also survived by his brother Robert and several nieces and nephews.
Stephen was predeceased by his parents and four sisters Patricia, Mary (Russ), Constance (Joe), and Judith and sister-in-law Patricia.
Stephen will forever live in our hearts and memories, as he is the best part of us all.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 4 – 6 pm at the Richard H Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Road, Fairport, NY 14450.
Stephen will be laid to rest following an intimate funeral service and military honors at White Haven Memorial Park on Friday, July 29, 2022, 10:00 am.
