Holli Lynn Rissberger, 47, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family in the early morning of May 27, 2022 , after a courageous battle with cancer.
Holli was born in Brockport, NY on August 10, 1974. Holli and her husband Mark met in the summer of 1993 and quickly became the best of friends and ultimately fell in love, later marrying in the summer of 1998.
Holli graduated from SUNY Brockport in 1998 and later acquired her Masters in Social Work from Syracuse University. After graduation she enjoyed her work with the elderly at the Episcopal Church Home where assisted families coping with end of life care for their loved ones.
She later took time off to raise her family when she and Mark had their twin boys Nicholas and Alex. She devoted her time to caring for her sons’ special needs and later served on the board of the Greater Rochester Spina Bifida Association. In 2019, Holli and Mark decided that their family wasn’t quite complete and adopted their amazing daughter Isabella from China. Besides devoting her time to her family, Holli enjoyed spending time reading and planting flowers as well as laughing and making memories with her closest friends. Additionally she enjoyed spending time helping advocate for infants of premature birth as well as for children with Spina Bifida.
Ultimately, Holli found her true calling working with children through her job, first as a Paraprofessional and later as a Teachers Assistant in the Pittsford School District. She adored working with her first grade students at Park Road Elementary which provided Holli with much satisfaction and fulfillment.
Holli will be missed by her husband, children, family, friends, students, colleagues and countless others that were touched by her loving and genuine kindness.
Holli is survived by her best friend and loving husband of almost 24 years, Mark and their three beautiful children, Nicholas (13), Alex (13) and Isabella (10). Her mother, Margie Shaw (Stephen); brother, Mark Johns (Denice); sisters, Paula Mulia (Alex) and Rebecca Johns; step-mother, Norma Johns (Steven); grandmother Dorothy Johns; a host of devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Holli was preceded in death by her father, Steven W. Johns.
Calling Hours will be held 3-6pm on June 3, 2022 at the Richard H Keenan Funeral Home located at 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd in Fairport, NY.
A Funeral service will be held at 11am on June 4, 2022 at the Farmington United Methodist Church located at 5925 County Rd 41 (corner of 41 and Rt 332). All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of Flowers, please send donations to the Greater Rochester Spina Bifida Association, http://www.grsba.org/donate/.

My daughter Evelyn was in Holli’s class this year. She misses “Mrs R” very much and said that the first thing she wants to write about in her First Grade “Memory Book” is about Mrs R. Sending love to your family.

My deepest sympathies to Mark and the entire family. Holli was my very first friend at URMC 21 years ago in the BMT office. She truly was a beautiful person that cared deeply for the patients and for her family. She radiated light and kindness wherever she went, and she will be deeply missed by myself and so many others.
Mark, our deepest condolences to you and the beautiful family that you and Holli created. I had the privilege to know you both through IDI and through the early days of caring for the boys at the pediatric office. I instantly knew what a great team you made.
