Joann Rose Roach, 84, of Fairport, New York, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, August 20, 2026. She was born on March 20, 1942, in Bronx, New York.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Rose Marosy, and her husbands, John Hefferon and William Roach.
She is survived by her two sons, Kevin Hefferon and his wife, Penny, and John Hefferon and his wife, Kelly; three grandchildren, Rose, Kaitlyn, and Micheleh; and six great grandchildren.
Joann earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Fredonia and a master’s degree in special education from Nazareth College. She spent more than 30 years as a beloved educator and retired from East High School.
Joann’s favorite pastime was being social. She stayed active through her book club, church group, and community associations. A lifelong patron of the arts, she was always eager to enjoy live music or attend a performance at Geva Theatre. When she was not visiting her favorite local establishments, Joann cherished time at home with her beloved cat, Rosie.
Though Joann is no longer with us, her spirit and memory will live on through the family and friends she loved so dearly. Joann always showed us that life was fun and beautiful, and we carry her legacy each time we enjoy good company, delicious food, and a refreshing glass of wine.

My heart aches. The world is dimmer without you in it but Heaven has gained an angel. I love you Grandma and there will never be a day when I won’t think of you.
