Fairport, NY – Ana Maria Rodriguez died peacefully in her home in Fairport, NY on October 20, 2018 at the age of 92.
Ana, fondly known as “China” to her close friends and family, is survived by her children – Ana Conant, Juan (Gina) Rodriguez, Alicia (John) Roselli, grandchildren – Christopher (Jennifer) Conant, Jessica (Christopher) Leland, Meghan Roselli and Jack Roselli, and siblings – Miriam (Jose) Lopez-Isa, Rudolfo (Ana) Wust and Ignacio (Margarita) Wust. She was preceded in death by her husband Amaro Rodriguez and brother Juan Wust.
Ana was born on February 20, 1926 in Cuba where she earned doctorates in Chemistry and Physics, played basketball for her country, began a career in education, married and started a family. They emigrated from Cuba in 1961, leaving everything behind in pursuit of democracy. They settled in Rochester, NY, where she taught Chemistry and Spanish at RIT and MCC and also expanded her family. She loved to travel and volunteer.
Ana will be remembered as a loving and generous mother, grandmother and member of the community.
A mass is scheduled for Thursday October 25, 5pm at Church of the Resurrection in Fairport NY, reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Resurrection.

Professor Rodriguez was a highly regarded faculty member at MCC for many years. Her students sung her praises and her colleagues held her in the highest esteem. Rest in peace Dr. Rodriguez, you added value to many lives.
