Fairport: Passed away peacefully on September 12, 2015 at the age of 84. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years Clare (Frisicano) Ruff and cherished daughter, Mary Therese. He is survived by his 4 sons, Tom (Betsy). Mike (Vicki), Chuck (Sandy) and Ray (Renee); 13 grandchildren, Charlie (Ginger), Elizabeth, Teddy, Eric, Daniel, Alex, Lindsey, Nick, Garrett, Lexie, Clare, Michael and MJ.
Ray was a graduate of Aquinas High School and then served in the US Army from 1951-1954. He graduated from St. John Fisher College and subsequently obtained a Masters degree from the University of Rochester and a PhD from the University of Buffalo. After briefly working at Kodak he was a founding member of the faculty at Monroe Community College. He was the longtime Dean of the Business Administrative Division and retired from MCC after 33 years. A Fairport resident for over 40 years, he was the longtime Treasurer for Fairport Little League, served on the School Board and could often be found in the bleachers at high school basketball games. He loved to read (Sherlock Holmes was a favorite), treasured the time with family and friends at the cottage on Waneta Lake and most of all was a devoted fan of any activity in which his children or grandchildren participated. He had a strong faith in the Lord, had a kind and gentle nature and great sense of humor. He will be deeply and dearly missed.
