Kathy Runyon (July 27, 1961 – October 3, 2024)
We are celebrating the life of Kathleen Marie (McGrath) Runyon. The daughter of Philip and Marie McGrath, Kathy grew up in Guilderland, New York. She graduated from Averett College in Virginia and then met Charlie, whom she married in 1987.
Kathy had many hobbies and loved to spend her time outdoors. She was always going for walks, hiking, kayaking, and playing paddle and pickleball. Kathy loved to be by the water, out in the garden, or sitting in the sun and loved going to all her children’s events and sports games. She was a well-loved volunteer at the East Rochester G2 program, as well as at many other organizations.
Her most cherished moments were spending time with family and friends, of which she had countless.
Kathy is survived by husband Charlie, children Shawn (Mollie), Abby (Sara), and Ally (Winston), grand-children Amelia, Renzie, and Tyson, as well as sister Carol Tracy (Ken), and brothers Tucker McGrath and Jeff McGrath (Joan, children Ryan and Nicole).
Calling Hours will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 4-7pm at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home at 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd in Fairport, New York.
A Mass will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10am at the Church of the Assumption in Fairport, followed by refreshments in the church gym.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the St. John’s Foundation.

My heart is broken that this beautiful and kind person has left us too soon. She was so full of grace with an unforgettable heart of giving. I loved that she could laugh at almost anything. Her family was always first, she had a shoulder for every friend, and when she experienced her own loss of her parents she shared that they went on to be with God, she knew that in her heart. I will miss you Kathy!. We were blessed to have known you, even for a short time. Rest in Peace!
Our prayers are with Charlie and their wonderful children!

If the measure of a person’s success in life is how good, kind, compassionate, capable, smart, funny, reliable and loyal they were throughout their life, Kath would be CEO of the planet. I will miss her beyond the ability to articulate it. Love to all you McGraths and Runyons.
I am shocked and saddened by the loss of my friend, Kathy. I’m very grateful for the time I knew her and spent with her. She was very special, and touched many lives. She was one of the most kind, compassionate and best listeners I’ve ever known. She always had good advice to share from deep within her caring heart. She lived her life fully, and I always enjoyed sharing in her infectious and beautiful laughter. I cannot imagine the struggle her loving family is experiencing at this time of loss. You are in my prayers.
With deepest sympathy,
The Elman Family

Words cannot express how absolutely devastated we were to hear that Kathy passed away. We have been so blessed to know and love Kathy since our playgroup days. Her illuminating smile and soft spoken words of encouragement will always be with us. She was a force to be reckoned with when she put her mind to something and she loved her family unconditionally. But she was also the kindest, most loving person you would ever meet. We are sending our love and deepest sympathies to you, Charlie, and your entire family. Please know we love you and will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

We are extremely sorry for your loss, Kathy was such a wonderful , kind and giving person. Kathy always made you feel welcomed with her beautiful smile. We have such fond memories of Fairport lacrosse days with all of you. Our deepest condolences.
My last time with Kathy was at our Pickleball tournament on Oct 23rd. Kathy + I were playing together and she forgot how to serve. Could not get the serve in the court. We laughed! Next time, she could not get it over the net. We laughed again. My turn + I lost my serve too. We were the biggest losers!! I myself was for the whole tournament. I will never forget that day with Kathy. So much fun. Miss you much girl. ❤️. My heart is broken for her family. 💔
We would like to add our condolences and will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Jeff & Ruth Hedin
