Arthur Joseph Santini “Art”
Fairport: December 20, 2022 at age 81 years
Art is predeceased by his parents: Xavier “Sam” and Jennie Santini, brother: James D Santini, and many dear friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Marion (Capizzi) Santini, children: Karen Santini and Derek Santini, sister-in-law: Roxanne Santini, Nephews: Gregory (Julie) Santini, Matthew (Anthia) Santini, Todd (Kelly) Santini, Niece: Catherine (Cris) Farcas and his beloved granddaughter: Emelia Feger.
He was born on October 19, 1941. He attended East Rochester schools, where he played football, and graduated with the class of 1959. He was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam war and served his country overseas for two years. He was a Private First Class in the Signal Corps for the 23rd Ordnance Company in Germany. After returning home he became a precision grinder. He worked at Gleason Works for 21 years and then at Kodak for another 21 years before retiring. During that time he also co-owned The Dive Hut, a scuba shop where he became a PADI certified instructor. He shared his passion for scuba diving and the 1000 Islands region with many people. He spent countless summer vacations in the 1000 Islands, camping and boating, and could navigate the St. Lawrence River as well as any member of the coast guard. He was on bowling teams, in baseball leagues, did pistol shooting competitions, and made many friends along the way. He and Marion were famous for their Jitterbug and Cha-Cha dancing. He also enjoyed deer hunting, watching ice hockey and football, and spending time with friends and family. He could be an abrasive, stubborn Italian at times, but he busted his butt to provide for his family. He showed his love by taking care of us right up until he passed away. He was a man’s man, the life of the party, give you the shirt off of his back kind of person, and he will be missed by many.
Calling Hours will be on Thursday, December 29th, 4-6pm at the Richard H Keenan Funeral Home (EGYPT location) 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Rd, Fairport. A funeral service will follow at 6pm at Keenan’s.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in his memory to: Mercy Flight Central 2420 Brickyard Rd Canandaigua, NY 14424

My sincere condolences to the family. My father Howard King and Art were friends for as many years as I can remember. We spent countless hours with the Santinis doing everything from casual gatherings at their house to weeks in the 1000 Islands and more. Art was a special person just like my dad. They are now back together reminiscing about East Rochester HS, growing up together, Gleason Works and all the other great memories that made together. They are two people that will never be forgotten. May God Bless you all.
Dear Marion, Karen, and Derek – it was a true honor to get to know your Dad over the last 15 years. Your comments really capture so much of him and I never knew so much of what he’d done. He cared for you all so deeply and will forever be in your thoughts and memories.
We were so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. We are sending you our love, prayers, and well wishes. He will be remembered by many and forgotten by few.
I am sorry to hear about the passing of Arthur J. Santini. Sending prayers of love and strength during this time of sorrow. My time with Art will always be remembered by the smile on his face and the righthand wave. With the exception of meeting a few times in Fairport, most of my memories are from time with Art at the Rochester War Memorial and Amerks hockey games. Section 215. God be with you all until we meet again.
Art and I worked together at KODAK. He was a great guy. My condolences to his wife and family.
