Pittsford: Georgia Martini Sauda, 97, died peacefully at the Hildebrandt Hospice Center in Rochester, New York on January 31, 2016.
She was born in 1918 on a farm in Steubenville, Ohio. At the age of ten, she moved with her parents and six siblings to Syracuse, New York. After high school, she attended the Crouse Irving Hospital Nursing School to become a registered nurse.
She was married to John Sauda for 53 years. Georgia was devoted to her family. She set high standards for her children while creating a loving environment which made them believe that they could accomplish anything if they were willing to work hard.
Georgia loved to read and was an avid gardener. Throughout her life, she enjoyed arts and crafts which she created with exquisite skill and detail.
Georgia is survived by her children: Kathleen Jahosky of West Islip, New York; Suzanne Knauf of Fairport New York; Eric Sauda and his wife Georgette of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Jean Sauda and her husband Carl Bovill of Crofton, Maryland and by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at St. John of Rochester Church, 9 Wickford Way, Fairport, NY.
