June 19, 1928-February 7, 2021
Dick passed away on February 7, 2021 at 92 years old. He was
predeceased by his eldest daughter, Mary Sue, and his great grandson, Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Elsie “Babe” Schaefer.
And his children Sally Radell (Ted Ruedin), Robert Schaefer (Colleen), Jack Schaefer
(Robyn), Anne Meath (Michael), and Jeannie Caia (Mauro). Grandchildren Amanda
Wlosinski (Steve), Kathryn Paul (Cameron), Lindsay Eksten (Mark), Bobby
Schaefer, Austin Schaefer, Ian Schaefer, Dana Meath, Kathleen Meath, Erin
Meath, Richard Caia, and Josephina Caia. (Ambien) Great grandchildren Patrick Eksten,
Hunter & Kayden Wlosinski, and Alexander and Tyler Paul.
Dick was a loving father and grandfather, and declared each
of his 6 children, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren his “favorite.” There
was never a doubt about the important place we each had in his big heart. We
will dearly miss his wisdom, wit, and always knowing the right thing to say.
And for knowing when it was just time to listen.
He had an amazing ability to attract wonderful people into
his life and was blessed with many friends and extended family with whom he
shared love, loyalty and laughs through the years. Thank you all for being such
a big part of his 92 years.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the School
of the Holy Childhood.
Due to the limitations of Covid-19, a funeral mass was
previously held at the convenience of the family.

Thank you Richard for over 40 years of close friendship and countless memories! Golf, gin rummy “going out of business sales” and being like a second dad to me! You will live on in my memories. Sincerely David
We send our heartfelt condolences to all of Mr. Schaefer’s family. It has been a blessing and a pleasure to have known him through his daughter and my best friend for almost 35 years. As I told Jeannie, he was one in a million and a truly class-act man. I will always remember him fondly.
Mrs. Schaefer, Sally, Bobby,Jack, Annie, and Jeanne. I am so verry sorry for your family’s loss. I was blessed to have grown up three doors down because it meant spending a lot of time with all of you. Your dad’s personality was as big as his heart. He was funny, kindhearted and he loved you all so much. It took him a little while to get used to the little Italian girl down the street but he always made me feel welcome. He will always have a special place in my heart.
Very sorry for the loss of your father, I remember many good times at the house.
Dear Babe–it has been a while but know that I will pray for comfort for you and your family. We had many laughs together over the years. Hope fond memories will lessen the grief—Love Elaine Becker (Richard Becker)
