Gisela Herta Schneider
July 13, 1947 – January 8, 2026
Gisela Herta Schneider, 78, went peacefully to be with her Lord on January 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Reinhard Schneider; her daughters, Denise Kinchen and husband John, and their children Dawson (and his wife Jazlyn) and Charissa; and Evelyn Peck and husband Gregory, and their children Jeremy, Elijah, and Rachel. She is also survived by her sisters, Rosalie Klippel (Erich), Ruth Singer, and Ursula Courtney (Duane), as well as her sister-in-law, Carol Singer, wife of her late brother, Gerhard Singer.
Gisela was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, and was dearly loved by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Gisela was diagnosed with ALS in August of 2023 and courageously walked this difficult journey for the past two and a half years. As someone who dearly loved hiking, gardening, and being outdoors, this disease was especially challenging for her. Yet throughout this season, she continued to walk faithfully with the Lord. Her love for Him was foremost in her life, and she had a heartfelt desire for all she knew to come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior. Even when she could no longer speak, she communicated through writing, “so and so needs the Lord.”
To her family, she was the heart of their home and a living example of Christ’s love. To her husband, she was his beautiful bride and best friend for nearly 57 years, a relationship second only to his devotion to Jesus Christ. As a mother, she modeled godly womanhood with joy, faithfully guiding her daughters through prayer, love, and a childhood rich with faith-filled memories. One of her greatest joys was leading her children to the Lord, planting seeds of faith that would grow into a lifetime of service to Him.
As a grandmother, she was energetic, engaged, and deeply loving—always ready for a hike, a swim, a game, or to turn a long car ride into an adventure with songs and imaginative games. She had a gentle but powerful way of encouraging her grandchildren to keep going when things were hard, often quietly supporting them from behind the scenes. Whether teaching, cheering on, listening, praying, or nurturing their hearts for the Lord, she delighted in each moment with them. Through every season of life, she leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, perseverance, and deep love.
She passed peacefully, and her family finds great comfort knowing she is now in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To be sure, she is already running toward the nearest hiking trail.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Webster Union Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Perinton Community Church. Church doors will open at 12:30 p.m., and a video honoring Gisela will be shown prior to the service. All are warmly invited to attend both services and to remain afterward for fellowship and refreshments.
Flowers may be delivered to Perinton Community Church, 636 High St. Ext., Fairport, NY 14450, on Saturday morning, January 17.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Perinton Community Church Mission Fund.

Dear Reinhard, Denise, Evelyn and families,
Our sincere condolences to you all. Reinhard, since I knew you and Gisela as church friends in my youth, I always looked up to you both as an example of faith and love. Reinhard, I remember especially the time when you were a soldier in Vietnam and how we all prayed for your safe return. Your beautiful wedding was one of the first weddings I was privileged to celebrate as a young girl. So many great memories!
My heart and prayers are with you, your wonderful daughters and your whole family during this very difficult time. We know Gisela is with her Lord and Savior and there will be a happy reunion for all who loved her someday soon.
With sincere sympathy and love, Hanna and Scott Reithel
Dear Reinhard, Evie, Denise and family~we are so sorry for your loss! Gisela will be remembered for the Godly woman she was. May the beautiful memories you have of her comfort you now and forever. Love Jim & Maureen
Dear Reinhard, family and all the dear friends of Gisela’s at Perinton Community Church. What we have lost, heaven has gained. We girls had more than monthly lunches, we had fellowship with each other. I wish I were closer to give you all a hug and tell you in person what Gisela’s friendship meant to me.. Just know I’ll be in prayer on the 17th and knowing I’ll see her again!
Gisela was a happy follower of our Lord. Always with a smile and a kind word. It was always a joy to be in any group where she was present. She will be greatly missed.
Dear Reinhard, Denise, Evie and families, please know that we are thinking of you as you celebrate Gisela’s life with all the wonderful memories your heart can conjure up. Prayers for each of you in the coming days, encouragement and trusting fully for the Lord to strengthen you. I will miss my dear friend’s love and laughter. On Sunday I could hear her singing beside me and using her fingers playing the piano on the back of the chair.
Dear Reinhard and family,Gisela was a wonderful person and friend. Us ‘girls’ enjoyed getting together each month for our luncheons and birthdays to laugh and catch up on our lives. I loved our long chats in the car while driving to and from these luncheons. She will be greatly missed. I was blessed with her friendship.
Gisela always had a smile on her face for everyone even in the most trying times. She was such a sweet joy to be around and watch in how she served the Lord and everyone around her. It was my honor to know her
Absent from the body, present with the Lord! We are thankful for her life and sweet spirit, and are thankful that her suffering has passed. We lift you all up in prayer knowing her passing will leave an emptiness in your lives. In those quiet moments we are praying that the Lord will give you his peace that passes our understanding, and happy memories replace the sadness.
Would have loved to see her reunited with Mom and Dad and Gary (with the twinkle in his eye and that big smile!)
Love you all!
For me it was Aunt Gisela. My memory,s as a child are filled with an amazingly kind aunt who always had a smile,a hug and and exceptionally strong patience for my shenanigans. I know my dad will be waiting for her and so happy to see her.
To all of Giselas’ family I send my thoughts and prayers. She always made time for me when I stopped at the church. She had a smile and would listen to my woes. She will be missed.
To Reinhard and family- I just heard that Gisela has entered into her eternal home and is with her Lord and Savior. I had the opportunity to work with her some years ago. She was an example to encourage those around her that faith is so vital in our daily lives. I pray that God will give you extra comfort in the days ahead
Dear Reinhard and family, we are so saddened that Gisela is no longer with you. I was so happy to see the lovely pictures of Gisela; she’s smiling in every single one.
Our deepest condolences.
