Passed on March 26, 2022.  Karen is predeceased by her Parents Henry and Laura Schutt and sisters Mae Bower and Arlene Wisner.  She’s survived by siblings Fred (Ruth) Schutt, Georgia Schutt, Helen Devlin, and William Schutt, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Karen was born and grew up in Fairport NY, in May 1943.  After attending The School for the Blind in Batavia she obtained her GED.  She worked many jobs over the years. Karen retired from the Association for the Blind and visually impaired (ABVI) after 27 years.

Karen was very active and loved to travel.  If you invited her to go somewhere, she would go.  Karen spent many weekends, in her 20s and 30s, taking a bus to MLB baseball games all over the country.  Then in 1995 Karen went on a once in a lifetime trip to Alaska, one half by train and the other by cruise ship.  Then going to Rochester Americans away games with the Booster Club.

Karen was an avid hockey fan especially the Montreal Canadians.  Locally she was a 16-year season ticket holder of the Rochester Americans Hockey Team.  Then a 13-year member of the Amerks Booster Club.  She loved going to functions where she could meet the players and talk hockey with them.  One of her favorite Amerks players, and one she spoke of often, was Patrick Kaleta.

Order of the Eastern Star was another long-time joy for Karen, and one she shared with her mother, sisters, and several Nieces.  She was a member for over 50 years, spending many years as an officer.  Karen also enjoyed supporting the OES by going to their many fundraising dinners, craft sales and booth at Fairport Canal Days. She went to the Eastern Star Campus in Oriskany NY each year for their Festival of Stars in July.

Family and Friends are invited to attend her calling hours from noon until 2:00 pm Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Keenan’s Funeral Home 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Rd, Fairport NY 14450.  There will be an Order of the Eastern Star Memorial service at 2:00pm followed immediately by a Funeral Service.

Private internment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the Eastern Star Campus, P. O. Box 959 Oriskany NY 13424
