Amber Rose Shechter’s beautiful soul left this realm on December 1st, 2023. She was 29, her life cut short due to Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), which led to cancer. She was diagnosed in February of 2021 and fought hard to the end.
Amber was born in Genesee Hospital in Rochester, NY and grew up in Fairport. She looked up to her older brother, Jake, and adored her younger sister, Rachel. Amber lost her mom when she was seven.
Growing up, Amber and her family went camping a few times a year, including an annual trip to Old Forge in the Adirondacks. Amber often brought her closest friends camping with her. (Valium online)
Amber was in Girl Scouts for a few years, but loved cheerleading even more. She loved the choreography and precision, and thrived on the competitive nature. She also loved theater: she worked backstage applying makeup at many Fairport High School plays and musicals, and even directed a middle school play.
As a senior in high school, Amber was nominated by her teachers to be a student ambassador. As part of this program, she spent time in Europe and was even in Spain when they won the World Cup!
Amber graduated from Fairport High School in 2012 and attended MCPHS, in Boston, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in pre-med in 2016. At MCPHS, Amber started a theater program, from scratch: she bought a script, found a theater, recruited actors and stage crew, and directed!
After college, Amber moved back to Fairport to work. She mostly worked in HR, but her favorite job ever was at Build-A-Bear, where she would have a smile on her face for her entire shift. She absolutely loved kids. Amber also married her high school sweetheart, Megan Molinari. Boston held a very special place in Amber’s heart, so she and Megan visited every year for their anniversary.
Amber loved comedy of all sorts. She frequented many different improv and sketch comedy shows and was obsessed with Saturday Night Live (SNL). One of her lifelong dreams came true when she got to meet Amy Poehler and then attend SNL live in NYC. Other hobbies of hers included going to musicals, spending time with her dog Duke, and cooking for others.
A major bucket list item for her was to return to Europe and finally get to go to Ireland. She organized and led a trip to Paris just this past October for her entire family! Amber continued traveling in Madrid and Lisbon with her sister, and then made it to Ireland where she was able to explore the country with her father.
Amber was outgoing, friendly, warm, and selfless. It was easy to love her. She could make lifelong friends after just a few interactions, and her love was generous and endless. The impact she made on everyone will endure forever. Her light will continue to shine on through her loved ones.
Close family and friends will have a private ceremony to honor Amber. There will be a celebration of her life in the Spring of 2024, possibly around her 30th birthday in March.
Amber is predeceased by her mother, Sharon Shechter and Mother-in-law, Nancy Molinari. She is survived by her wife, Megan Molinari, her father, Alan Shechter, her siblings, Jake Shechter and Rachel Erichson (Shechter), and her beloved dog Duke.
Donations in her name can be sent to the Wilmot Cancer Institute, which took great care of Amber for the past few years.

Amber was a true angel too. She held my hand and helped through a very scary health emergency. We worked together and I adored her. My heart is breaking for Megan and her family. ❤️ RIIP my kindred spirit
Amber was a true light in this world and I will never forget how much joy she brought to every one of her coworkers and every person from age 1-100 at babw. She didn’t *just* love, but truly cherished people and it showed. Every thought and prayer to Megan and Amber’s entire family.
I have taught for 20+ years and Amber shines brightest among all my students. She was kind, selfless, funny, and always had a smile. I saw the love she has for Megan when I officiated their wedding, and I am so glad I was able to share that with them. Heaven has gained another angel far too soon.
I was Amber’s Girl Scout leader and am very sorry to hear of her passing. My deepest condolences to all of her family and friends.
She could light up a room with her smile. We loved seeing her grow up. Amber was a wonderful person and will be missed. We feel a great sorrow and we wish her family strength to get through these tough days ahead. Love, The Miller Family
My sincerest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the family. May you all not find a way to live without her but rather find a way to live with the love and joy she left behind.
God Bless!
Dear Amber,
I love you. You have helped me dream again. To start a Bucket List to live life to the fullest. I’m so proud of you. Battling cancer didn’t put it’s label on you. You fought to live, to love, to be courageous and be that special person you were and are to me in spirit. Today I opened a travel Road Scholar (learning adventures) I opened it to Portugal & Spain. I started reading about places you planned to go on your last adventure and went with your family. I’m overwhelmed with your accomplishments and finishing so strong.
I can’t wrap my head around closing this small note to you. Thank you for being in parts of my life. I feel so blessed for that time.
Love,
Diane
My deepest condolences to Jake, Rachel and family members.
Love,
Diane
