Short, Mary Ann (Carmen)

Fairport: Passed away peacefully on October 7, 2013 at their summer home on Seneca Lake. Survived by her husband of 59 years, John J. Short Sr.; 3 children, John Jr. (Susan), Nancy (Keith) Button and Peter (Mary Jean); grandchildren, Emily (Dan) Heuer, Hilary and Jonathan Short, Amy and Heather Button, Connor, Abigail and Victoria Short.

Mary Ann was born to Joseph and Clara Carmen and grew up in Rochester. She is survived by siblings, Celia (Mike) Gallo, Robert (deceased wife Barbara) and Richard (Pat) Carmen: many nieces and nephews. Mary Ann graduated from William Smith College, Geneva, NY where she and John met and fell in love. She spent her early adulthood raising her family and she and John started a manufacturing business- JJ Short Associates in 1977. She and John retired in 2001 and spent their retirement years enjoying their Seneca Lake home.

A Life Celebration gathering will be held Thursday 4-7 at the RICHARD H. KEENAN FUNERAL HOME, 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Road, Fairport (Egypt location). Funeral Mass will be held Friday 11:15 AM at Church of the Assumption, Fairport. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mary Ann’s memory to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, Juvenile Diabetes Association or McQuaid Jesuit High School.
