Francis Skop (Frank) age 85, passed away peacefully of at his home on Sunday, December 21, 2025. He was born September 28th, 1940, in Buffalo NY, to Frank and Lottie Skop.

 Frank is survived by his loving family; son, Frank; Grandchild, Elena Skop; sibling, Mary (Mark) Hackett. 

Predeceased by his wife, JoAnn; parents, Frank and Lottie Skop; sibling, Diane (Steve) Saunders. After graduating from SUNY Canton, Frank began working at Taylor Instruments where he met JoAnn.  They were married on September 11, 1965 at St. Mary’s Church in Rochester NY. 

 Shortly after marrying, they moved to Fairport where they lived together for over 54 years. Frank lived in Fairport until his passing.  Frank and JoAnn became a member of St. John of Rochester Church, in 1969.  In addition to church activities Frank was active in maintaining the Sacred Heart Statue, adding engraved stones in remembrance of the priests of St. John of Rochester Church.

Frank was drafted in the US Military, served his time, but not deployed. Upon completing his education and receiving a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1972. After a time at Taylor Instruments, he continued his 35 plus year career at Castle Sybron Corporation and Lucent Technologies.  His peers, teams and management recognized Frank for his knowledge, creativity, soft-spoken guidance, support and leadership. 

Frank loved his family! As a husband, father and grandfather, Frank, along with JoAnn provided a home environment that enabled growth, security and caring family life, always there when help and guidance and words of encouragement were needed! 

Favorite moments were spent having morning chats with his wife and an occasional cup of coffee or two at Panera with her and their son.  He also enjoyed frequent getaways with his wife to Hilton Head Island and time with his granddaughter Elena, playing games, talking and just staring at each other. 

Frank, was a caring, creative, hard working and soft-spoken man!  He taught me right from wrong, a strong work ethic, how to think, work with my hands and to be a kind person. I am forever grateful for that!  He will truly be missed! 

Calling hours will be held Monday January 5th, 2026 from 4-6PM at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, Egypt location(7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd., Fairport). A Funeral service will be held Tuesday January 6th, 2026 at 11 am at White Haven Memorial Parks, All Seasons Chapel (210 Marsh Rd.)

  3. Frank was a great neighbor and will be missed. After moving next door he was always there with a smile and willing to lend a helping hand. I would see him earlier in the morning with his snow blower clearing his driveway but he wouldn’t stop there. Frank would continue up and down the street blowing snow from any driveway that needed it. If you came home late from work your garbage cans would already be back at your house. Thanks for all the help over the years Frank. You will truly be missed by myself, Danielle and of course your good friend my dog Archer.
    I hope I see Frank Jr out with the snow blower in the morning..We got 6″ of snow last night!

  4. Frank was a great guy, a wonderful husband and father and grandfather. It was a pleasure to know him and be the recipient of his acts of kindness. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. I am sure JoAnn was waiting with open arms to welcome the love of her life, Love you Frank
