Mary Angela Steers, aged 98, of Pittsford, NY, passed away peacefully at Rochester Presbyterian Home – Creekstone on February 3, 2025.

She was born November 12th, 1926, in Quincy Massachusetts, to the late William and Angela McDonough.  She grew up in St. Albans, NY and graduated from St. Elizabeth’s University, Convent Station, New Jersey in 1949.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Robert Steers and sister, Eileen Ullrich.  She is survived by her two sons, Mark and Richard, and granddaughter, Brittany (Steers) Sharp.  

Mary worked at New York’s Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) for over three decades, supporting and developing “Students with Disabilities.”  After retiring, she continued this dedication to the needy by volunteering at St. John’s Saints Place, helping refugees from some of the most distraught nations in the world, get a new start.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 16th, at St. John of Rochester Church, 8 Wickford Way, Fairport, NY.  Fr. Peter Clifford will officiate. The Mass will be livestreamed at https://stjohnfairport.org/streaming
