Strazzeri, Jane Theresa

Mary Jane Theresa (Proulx) Strazzeri of Fairport, NY, passed away suddenly and peacefully on January 11, 2025, at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony, with whom she shared 67 years of loving marriage. Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, Jane attended nursing school in Boston, where she met Anthony, the love of her life. They moved to Rochester in 1953, where they built a thriving dental practice in Webster, with Jane playing an integral role in supporting both the practice and their local community.

Jane’s steadfast faith was the cornerstone of her life. After retiring from the dental practice, she devoted much of her time to volunteering at St. John’s Church in Fairport. There, she worked in the church office and took great pride in teaching Religious Education, sharing her wisdom, compassion, and faith with future generations. Jane was a cherished member of her church community, always prioritizing the needs of others above her own.

Family was the heart of Jane’s life, and she celebrated every moment with her loved ones. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was the pillar that held her family together, offering endless love, kindness, and unwavering support. Jane’s warmth, compassion, and deep connections with those she loved will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Christine Woods (Dan), Gerry Strazzeri (Laurie), and Fran Strazzeri (Janice); her grandchildren, Daniel Woods (Alexa), Jayni Fischer (Nick), Jordyn Soures (John), Anthony Strazzeri (Jennifer), and Katy Strazzeri (Rick Coffey); as well as her great-grandchildren, Sofie Fischer, Jonathan Strazzeri, Allison Strazzeri, Erin Coffey, and Aiden Coffey.

In addition to her immediate family, Jane is also survived by many dear friends who were like family to her. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, faith, generosity, and a devotion to both her family and community. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday January 15, 2025 11AM at St John of Rochester Church 8 Wickford Way, Fairport. The Mass will also be livestreamed at https://stjohnfairport.org/streaming.

We were moving into our first house in Webster in 1967. I was sitting outside waiting for the moving van, and I heard a pleasant voice call across the street asking if I would like a cup of coffee. Sounded good, I walked across the street to meet our first friend -Jane. We met her husband – Tony, who became our dentist. Eventually they moved and we lost track of them. Around 2008 we bought our current home and I saw a Facebook name of Christine. I called the number and asked if she knew a Jane. Fortunately Jane remembered me and we agreed to get together for lunch. It was really great to see her and compare fun stories. We had our next dinner meeting coming up soon. It was really great to see Jane again and also to get to know Christine as an adult instead of a young girl. We will miss our special friend Jane.

What a beautiful obituary that fully captured your mom’s life in a nutshell. She was a wonderful woman and we feel so fortunate to have known her. We know what a loss this is to your family but you all could not have enriched her life anymore in her later years. She’s now in heaven with your dad. Be comforted in that.
