Lea Theuer, aged 75.
Passed peacefully at Serenity House in Victor, NY on July 12, 2026.
Lea is survived by her adoring husband Hank; her children Jay (Caroline) and Ali (Paco); her sisters Anne Brueckner and Gretchen Lytle (Mark), as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless loving friends. Lea is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Gretchen.
Lea graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in nursing and spent her life and career in service of others. She was active in her church community, and in her free time, she enjoyed spending moments with loved ones, being outdoors, and sharing a meal. Known for her welcoming smile and open heart, Lea will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held at Third Presbyterian Church (4 Meigs St, Rochester, NY) on August 29, 2026 at 10:00 am with a reception immediately to follow in the church hall. Lea’s service will be available via livestream at https://m.youtube.com/@ThirdChurchROC?ra=m

I met Lea in grad school in the 1990s. The material was foreign to me, but Lea explained it all in a way that made sense. From that moment, we were friends and I also determined that in future classes, I’d sit next to her because I knew she’d be the smartest person in the room.
Lea and I shared hiking and orienteering adventures. Somehow, we found our way back. She was smart even on the trail. Unconventional, but smart.
So many times she showed me what a friend is.
Lea was a treasure and I am better for her being my friend. I will miss her. May her memory always be for a blessing and may her family find peace and comfort.
I first knew Lea when she was the school nurse at Rush-Henrietta High School. But I got to know her better when she joined our R-H lunch bunch. I enjoyed her humor and positive outlook. I will miss her company at our monthly get-togethers.
Oh my gosh, we just saw this obituary, what a heartbreaking shock. We always enjoyed having a visit with Lea and Hank. We called her “Mark’s work husband” when they worked together at RH-what a team they were. Hank, we will be thinking about you and the kids as you grieve the loss of this beautiful woman.
While I only recently had the pleasure of knowing Lea, from working with her at Third Presbyterian Church, feeding the unhomed, she had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up a room. She was an inspiration to all who met her. The world will be a quieter place without her laughter. Rest in peace my friend.
I had the pleasure of visiting with Lea at Third church when my son would play a part of the music. She was always warm and friendly and interested in what was going on in my life. My condolences go out to Hank and family for this incredible loss. I’m holding you all in my heart.
Lea was the face of Third Pres Church. She greeted and ushered at services,volunteered at various Outreach ministries, flashed her lovely smile at all people and spread the love of God in her activities and deeds. She will be truly missed in this world.
Our deepest condolences to the Theuer family. Lea and Hank were our neighbors on Cathaway Park. When we moved in, Lea soon came there after over to welcome us and she remained the best neighbor until she and Hank moved to Victor. There was the annual Christmas treat during the holidays prepared by Lea and she always volunteered to water the garden when we were out of town. Lea organized an annual neighborhood picnic and made sure the entire neighborhood was invited. She was truly an exceptional person.
Lea indeed had a welcoming smile and heart. Her every manner said ‘welcome’. She will be remembered and missed by all, but especially by Hank and their children. Our prayers go out to the whole family.
To the Theuer family, may God show you the extraordinary comfort and peace that only can He can grant you at this time of loss.
