Nancy Elizabeth Tongue passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday August 14th, 2025. She was 88.
Nancy is pre-deceased by her husband William (Bill), son Edward (Ned), son-in-law Randy Morris and brother-in-law Jim.
She is survived by her son Todd (Stephanie), daughter Teri Morris, sister-in-law Barbara, grandchildren Megan (Brian) Lomb, Matthew Tongue, Brandon Morris, Austin Morris and Jordan Morris. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Cecelia and Sophia Lomb.
Nancy was born on August 31, 1936, in Ogdensburg, New York to Charles and Mildred (Turnbull) Newton. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1954 where she loved cheerleading and participating in music and sports clubs.
She graduated from Albany Business School (NY) in 1957. It was at ABS where Nancy met her lifelong friend Dottie Phillips. Dottie was instrumental in organizing the blind date where Nancy met the love of her life, Bill, in the fall of 1962. After finishing school, Nancy worked for the Veterans Administration in Albany.
Nancy married Bill on June 29, 1963. They adopted two children, Teri and Todd, and then completed their family with the birth of their son Ned in 1974.
Nancy was a loving wife and mother, a loyal friend and a supportive and nurturing woman to all she encountered. She opened her heart and home to so many on her journey through life. She epitomized calm and quiet strength, especially in the midst of challenging circumstances.
She loved sports (especially golf), music, dancing, reading and spending time with family and friends. Nancy will always be remembered for her engaging, bright smile.
She’s now in Heaven calming the chaos the men who went before her are surely causing.
Calling hours are Monday August 18, 2025 from 4PM – 6PM at Keenan’s Funeral Home in Egypt. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to UR Medicine Home Care – Hospice Care.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 19 at White Haven Cemetery in the Creations Chapel at 11AM with internment immediately following.

Nancy was so beloved by all who knew her. We have missed her at bridge after so many years. Our prayers and condolences to the family.
Nancy was a wonderful, wonderful next door neighbor. She’s the first neighbor we met when we moved in to our current home 36+ years ago. She came over with a food gift (I think it was jam) and welcomed us and invited us to the first of MANY neighborhood parties. Rarely did Nancy and Bill miss our holiday parties and often, they were the last to leave. She,and her whole family, have meant so much to us over the years.
Our sincere condolences for the loss of your Mom. We have many happy memories of golfing and traveling with your parents. We have missed her hearty laugh and zest for fun. Wishing you comfort and peace.
