It is with deep sorrow and deeper love that we announce the passing of Gary on February 1, 2026 from brain cancer. Preceded by his parents, Marion and William Torrey, and sister Linda Granby. He is Survived by his devoted wifeMary Jo; daughters, Kristie Gabel,(Billy), Emily Kraus, son-in-law Tom; cherished grandchildren; Aiden Gabel, Benjamin, Ryan, and Morgan Kraus, great grandchildren, niece and nephews, caring golf friends and neighbors.
Gary was at peace – filled with grace, love and dignity – after an adventurous and meaningful life filled with unwavering faith, family, friends, sports, traveling, trips to historic inns, and storytelling.The boundless love he shared with his grandchildren was one of his life’s greatest blessings. Gary thrived on volunteering and helping others, with a special dedication to Honor Flight Rochester, the Perinton Summer Concerts and Lollypop Farm. He loved and cared for all animals, especially his dogs over the years, Molly, Bandit, Snickers and Oliver.
“Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories”. At Gary’s request, no memorial or funeral services will be held.
Memorial contributions to Lollypop Farm are welcomed in honor of Gary’s passion for animals (www.lollypop.org) or (TheAdventHouse.org)

Gary was a good friend for many years. We golfer, Bowled and worked together. He was funny and had a great timing on his remarks. I will miss him!
I didn’t know him very well, but I knew he was a good man. He will be missed
