James Alan Trapani, of Fairport, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 19, at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Born February 8, 1960 in Auburn, NY, the son of Michael A and Bernadette Trapani, Jim graduated from Auburn High School, Delhi University, and Utica College. He married his high school sweetheart Beth Fandrich on December 28,1985. They moved to Fairport in 1986. A skilled carpenter, Jim was in great demand as a private contractor for most of his career, and for the last ten years has worked for Empire Kitchen and Bath as a project manager.
Jim’s greatest love was his family. He and Beth started dating when he was a sophomore in high school and she was a freshman. He was extremely proud of “the twins” Megan and Nick. He loved spending time with extended family at their camps on Cayuga Lake, and at Sunday family dinners in Auburn. Jim and Beth loved hosting friends for Wednesday pasta nights, featuring his famous sauce, at their home.
Jim was a passionate Yankees and NY Giants fan. Jim was always ready to help friends, neighbors, and families with home improvements and repairs. He worked each year on the sets of the Fairport High School musicals; the drama club is dedicating this year’s production to him.
He is survived by his wife Beth, daughter Megan of Los Angeles, Ca, son Nicholas of Fairport, mother Bernadette of Auburn, brothers Michael (Molly) of Auburn and Thomas of Ithaca, sisters Karen Goodman and Janet Trapani (Marty Loveless) of Auburn, father-in-law Victor Fandrich of Auburn, brothers-in-law Mark (Jill) Fandrich of Auburn and Scott (Karen) of Jacksonville, Fl, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his father Michael Trapani, mother-in-law Marilyn Fandrich, sister-in-law Kathy Trapani, and brother-in-law Richard Goodman.
Calling hours will be Saturday, January 25, 10am-12pm, at the Perinton Presbyterian Church, 6511 Pittsford Palmyra Rd, Fairport, NY, with the funeral following at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Fairport High School Drama Club, 1 Dave Paddock Way, Fairport, NY 14450.

So sorry for your loss Beth, Megan and Michael. You are in our thoughts and prayers. ???
I knew Jim from work as he helped me on many projects while @ empire. Jim would always go out of his way to help me on projects. I enjoyed his sense of humor as we often teased each other about work related situations and our bad knees.. Jim will be missed, he was a gentleman and one to be admired.
Beth, we are shocked and saddened to hear about Jim! We are in Florida and cannot attend the services to express our sympathies, but please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers! We just can’t believe it!

We are so sorry for your family’s loss. I will always remember Jim teasing me through college to get me to relax. He and your whole family helped me feel like part of your family while I was at college. Remembering his awesome smile always warms my heart. Jim was an outstanding man who reached out to others to lift them up. He will be truly missed but the memories he created for others will live on.

We worked together at Empire Kitchen and Bath…,
Jimmy was my go to guy for my template schedule
He would give me all the customer paperwork and details for countertop patterning for the day
In these past ten years with us at Empire , I’ve enjoyed his wit , humor, and professionalism. I am most fortunate to have had the chance to have known and enjoyed him.

To his family,Beth, Megan and Nick, the light of his life. Although I did not work with Jimmy on a daily basis, thru many years when I did come to Empire, he always greeted me warmly whether I was there to see him or someone else. He was very good at his job but more than that his sense of humor was always shared. He was thoughtful and respectful, truly a gentleman.
