Lowell was devoted to caring for his wife Pat. He was kind to all and had a great sense of humor. He was a pillar in the Fairport community and a good friend to many. We will treasure our fond memories of Lowell at the cottage in Canada and the many times he hosted our game playing group at his home.

I shared with my son Iain that his favorite “Honorary Grandpa” has passed away. To say he is heartbroken is an understatement. I’ve never seen an 11-year-old cry like that. The joy he brought my son is something that I am so incredibly thankful for. Lowell and Iain had such a special bond, he was so good to him. He always checked in on us even after I stopped working at Parkwood and would send old car magazines to my son. Thank you for sharing your father and grandfather and husband with my family. We will forever be thankful.

We enjoyed our friendship with Lowell, when we met, we found that we actually met briefly at a wedding where his son was the best man and the daughter of a friend of ours was the bride. Years of friendship followed. We spent many hours together playing board games, as well as our yearly trip to Canada for a week where Lowell & Pat, and family & us and the Kings rented cabins. Lowell and Pat were on more than one cruise with us and 6 of us cruised Hawaii together. Happy he found his biological family. Fun, yet sincere, Lowell was always pleasant company. May God bless and keep him, & comfort his family.

Lowell was the first person I spoke with when moving here from Chicago in 1985 I called Fairport Savings to get some information about Fairport and he was so helpful, friendly and funny. It was a great way to feel good about my move here with my daughter who was then 6 yrs old. I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers for the entire family. Sincerely, Bernadette Mahle

I have been friends with his son since elementary school. Over the last 50+ years I have had numerous occasions to talk and spend time with Lowell including running into him many times at McDonalds where he always had a joke to tell. I was fortunate enough a few years ago to go with him to Bermuda on a business trip. It was just the 2 of us and although it was for business we had a great time. Every time I here a tree frog I will know Lowell is saying Hi.

Lowell was my neighbor on Deere Run and we talked often. I enjoyed watching him drive his Oldsmobile Cutlasses which he loved and shares memories as I also owed a Cutlass in college. We were both bankers and knew many of the same people who worked in the banking industry. Lowell was a very nice person and will be missed. RIP

Lowell was an inspiration! We met through Breathe Easy Rochester, the local PF support group. Lowell’s humor was greatly respected and anticipated when we met. His love and care for Pat showed devotion and a model
for others to follow. It was a great pleasure to know Lowell and his presence will be missed. My thoughts are with you, Pat, Karen and Kevin and the entire Twitchell family.

Lowell was one of the nicest guys I knew in Banking. We were both active in many organizations for the years I was a banker also. Remembering him fondly. Condolences to Pat and his family.

Lowell may have been a banker (as was I); but he always wanted to be a comedian. He would tell jokes and I would pretend to laugh. It was our little game. Rest in peace my friend. I am sure your new audience will appreciate your humor.

Lowell was a good friend and a Bank President like none other. In retirement, he would stop at the house with his 65 Olds Cutlass whenever he saw me out in the yard as he lived around the corner from me at one time. I missed his presence at the former Fairport Savings Bank when he retired. Six generations of my family banked with him and his predecessors at FSB – banking with him was a pleasure as one could be on a first name basis. Truly a memorable member of our community.

His grandfather’s restored buggy as long term town doctor & the Bear Creek boat launch @ Thompson Park/Memorial Point on Lake Ontario continues the family legacy @ Heritage Square Museum & in in the l Ontario community. It is an honor to have known & shared the friendship of his extended family for so manyyears

I can remember meeting Lowell at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY where I attended school with his son Kevin. On one occasion, we dined together at Mc Namara’s Family Restaurant, a top breakfast spot at the time. Lowell pointed out his Buick in the parking lot and noted that he used it for business. He proceeded to look at me and ask “So, how is business?”. I can also remember him speaking alot about Bermuda and how it was a great vacation spot. He spoke so passionately about it that we thought he was a member of their tourism board. I can see where Kevin got his easy-going personality from. I was saddened to learn of Lowell’s passing. I send my thoughts and prayers to Kevin, Lisa, Karen, and the entire Twitchell family at this very difficult time. May Lowell rest comfortably in God’s loving hands and may memories of times together provide consolation and peace.

Dear Pat and Kevin, you have my deepest sympathy. I will not be able to visit the funeral parlor as I am recovering from COVID. I have such great memories of Lowell. The trip across Main St. from the library was such a pleasure. I always was introduced to his latest joke. My son Mark and i were introduced in the world of dirt tract stock car racing with Kevin and Lowell as he skipped out of work early on Friday nights with beer and cheesits. My wife received a hug every time she came in the bank. We had fun time in Lions together. Sorry I lost touch after retirement.

I first met Lowell at a support group for Pulmonary Fibrosis about 6 years ago at Strong Hospital…..a man with an ever twinkle in his eye looking to spark laughter in others. He always downplayed his struggle with PF while bringing up positives that changed the mindset.

Covid cancelled these get-togethers and I never saw him again. I think we could have been good friends.

Lowell was always so kind to my mother, Mary Ellsworth, while she was living at Parkwood Heights. They would reminisce about Fairport, mutual friends and happy times. He will be missed.
