Rebecca Taylor Van Alstyne, born November 16, 1972, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025 in Rochester, NY with family and friends by her side. She battled cancer courageously for almost six years, and she spent those years living life to the fullest.
She was predeceased by her mother, Sandra Waterman Taylor, and survived by her children, Luke and Paige Van Alstyne, her former husband, Malcolm VanAlstyne, father W. Joseph Taylor, brother Paul (Seana) Taylor, several aunts and uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.
All those who knew Becky, knew how much she enjoyed making TikToks with Paige and watching Luke grow to the man he is today. It was a comfort to her to know that they both will flourish, and she will enjoy watching them both do great things with their lives.
Becky will be best remembered by her unconditional love that she shared with everyone, especially her “tribe” who was by her side until the end. She had a gift of making everyone feel special, and that they were the only ones who matter.
Before she became ill, she was employed at the Rochester City School District as a school psychologist working with students with special needs. Becky was a 1990 graduate of RFA where she was in the marching band and then became the Drum Major. She received her BS in psychology from SUNY Brockport, and MS in school psychology from SUNY Oswego.
Calling Hours will be Friday, October 10 from 4-6 at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt Location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road in Fairport, NY. Services will be on Saturday, October 11 at 1:00 at White Haven Memorial Park All Seasons Chapel 210 Marsh Road in Pittsford, NY, and she will be laid to rest on Sunday, October 12 at 10:00 at Evergreen Cemetery in Lee Center, NY with her mother whom she has greatly missed.
Per Becky’s request, please wear blue which represents finding a cure for colon cancer.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Humane Society of Wayne County.

Deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers to the Taylor and Van Alstyne families.
My thoughts are with the Van Alstyne family. My deepest condolences. Thoughts and prayers.
A truly special person who made everyone else feel special. God love you kiddo. Our hearts are broken. Can you help us heal?
Our world is a better place because of Becky. She creates connections through a smile, joke, laugh or comment. Becky showed up, and throughout my entire life visited me when I was at Sylvan Beach. I appreciate her efforts, and it helped us to stay in contact and continue to share that unique Taylor bond. Missing you, always.
How we will miss Becky at all our Taylor gatherings. Her Spirit was always joyful, making each of us feel special to her. It was evident that Luke & Paige were her focus in life. Thank you to her “tribe”, Paul, and Joe for being her support , seeing that everything that mattered was accomplished. I’ll miss you, Becky.
Courageous Becky. You fought the fight, you have finished your course and you kept the faith. God love you, God bless you and rest well in peace.
Becky embodied beauty, both inside and out. This world is a little bit darker now, and she will be greatly missed. I haven’t had many friends in my life that my whole family loved, but Becks was one of them. Rest peacefully, dear.
So sorry to hear of Becky’s passing. Always heard such wonderful stories, and met her two years ago with Jennifer.
May she rest now in peace and her family and friends find comfort with fond memories.
Becky was an excellent school psychologist and we have missed her ever since she left School 12. She was great with everyone: children and adults alike.
She was very proud of each of her children and shared stories about what they were each doing. It was clear she loved her children dearly. I know she will continue to enjoy watching them grow and do wonderful things.
Rest in peace, Becky.
May many wonderful memories help carry family and friends through this difficult time.
Becky will always be dearly loved. I had the pleasure of becoming friends with her when we worked at School 41 in the RCSD. We had a crew that giggled all day especially when things got stressful. The group of us got together consistently since we all parted ways and have remained friends. She is a gem and will always be in our hearts.
Our deepest condolences to the family. Taken too soon. She will be missed and never forgotten. Praying for peace and comfort for the family!
Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your beautiful Becky. I will always remember her by her million dollar smile;she brought joy wherever she went. Prayers going out to all of you as you try to navigate life without her bright life. She will live on in Luke and Paige. Rest in peace Becky, well done!
