Van Gelder, Carl E.

Carl E. Van Gelder

Age 95   Fairport

Carl passed peacefully on December 3rd, 2022 surrounded by family.

He is predeceased by his son Mark  Van Gelder.  He is survived by his beloved wife “Pat” of 71 years, children Judith A. Celentani (Chuck Crawford), Nancy Van Gelder, Ellen Van Gelder, Carol (Dan) Hodge, grandchildren Toni (Kenneth) Bridgman, Adam Van Gelder (Taryn Pohwat), Rachel Van Gelder (Dan Cox), Elizabeth Sarratori, Matthew Sarratori, Emily Van Gelder, great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

Carl was a veteran of WW2, retired from Eastman Kodak Company and devoted his life to loving and providing for his family.

He enjoyed Native American history, puzzle games and God’s small creatures (animals). Above all, he loved & doted on his family & friends, and was superb in acting silly.  Carl never ran out of funny comments and dad jokes.  He is deeply loved and will be missed by many.   Private services to be held at family’s convenience.

The family wishes to thank the Rochester Presbyterian Home at Cottage Grove for their outstanding care of our dad/grandpa, Carl.

Mr. Van Gelder was one of the most generous and kindest person I have ever known. A dedicated family man and very wise. I have not seen him in a very long time. He had a big heart and gave me much joy. Rest in peace my good man.
