James N. Vaughn passed away on Wednesday March 22. He was 91 years old.
James was born in Hartford, Kansas in 1932 to Harold and Frances Vaughn. He grew up in Madison Kansas. Met his wife, Olive Kipfer,
whom he called Annie, of 70 years at age 7 in a one room schoolhouse just outside of town. They graduated from Madison High school in 1949. Married in 1952 and started a family of 6 children in 1954. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Kansas State University and then served as a Captain in the Marine Corps. Following his military service he worked for the State of Kansas as an engineer. In the mid 1960’s he started working for IBM as a salesman. He remained with the company for nearly 30 years before retiring.
He took great interest in sports, computers and flying for which he obtained a private pilots license. He loved music, especially guitar and could be found all through his life listening to hours of all different genres. The last few years of his life he loved to talk about the details of his childhood town, the people and the activities he and his beloved wife did growing up together.
He was a proud father and and rejoiced in his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by the love of his life, Olive Annie, son David, daughter Lorri Kay and adored granddaughter Holly Marie. He is survived by his sons, Barrett(Billie), Steven( Mary) and Paul Vaughn. His daughter MaryAnn( Joshua) Heller. 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
We are saddened by his passing and will cherish all the good he brought into the world.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday March 31, at Richard H Keenan Funeral Home at 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Rd. Fairport, NY 14450
