James (Jim) S. Vitalone of Fairport, NY, unexpectedly passed on to our Lord on December 23, 2020.
Born in 1936 to Rocco and Josephine (Pietropaolo) Vitalone of Canandaigua, NY, Jim had warm memories of his early years with loving family and life-long friends made on Phoenix Street.
He moved to Rochester, NY, where he met Rita Sellinger, and they married in 1966. Settling in Fairport they raised their dear son Tom. Jim launched a highly successful real estate career, establishing his own office and a home construction company. Jim had a heart for people, always going the extra mile for his clients.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, Papa, brother, and faithful Catholic. He loved connecting with his grandchildren or visiting with family and friends over a cup of coffee. Jim had a warm and generous spirit. If need arose, Jim was there to find a solution. He volunteered countless hours of service to remodeling projects at local Catholic parishes. You could find Jim at the public market on Saturdays, selecting flowers for his vibrant gardens.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Rita; son Tom, his wife Margaret Vitalone, their children Luca and Leonardo of Breckinridge, Colorado; and brothers Sam, Joseph, Tony (Annette), Rocco (Barbara), of Canandaigua. Also, many loving relatives, nephews, nieces, and close friends. Jim was pre-deceased by his parents, brothers Pasquale and Vincenzo, and sister Frances Carbone.
A celebration of his life is scheduled for [January 2nd, Noon] at St. John of Rochester church, 8 Wickford Way, Fairport, NY.

The community and his family has lost a very special man, but oh what a treasure has been received in heaven. Eternal Rest, Jim. We were blessed to call you our cousin. The fruits of your faithfulness and generosity will live on in the people and places you have touched.
Very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing I always looked up to him and enjoyed our conversations.
What a shocking loss of our very mild mannered and dear cousin. Rita and Tom, we cannot imagine your heartache and that of your family. Our faith gives us the assurance that Jim is now cradled in the loving arms of God and living in joyous peace for eternity. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sorrowful time.
I have many fond memories of his warm smile which was always present. Our sympathy to his family near and far.
For a kid, an Uncle can be a second Dad, a fun pal, a source of wisdom, someone to inspire you. My Uncle was all this and more. His sudden departure from our family circle leaves a hole that will never be filled. Yet, memories of his sweet nature and moments of joy, like seeing his eyes sparkle when showing off his Christmas village, will never fade from my memory My heart is broken…but I rejoice in the sweet departure our Lord blessed him with and the gentle manner our Lord granted him. He will be dearly missed….such a great man…
Jim rented us our first apartment on Dartmouth Street in 1963, just after we were married. A long time ago, but I still remember what a nice man he was!
our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family at this time–god bless !!
Uncle Jim will be missed. He was a steady ship that navigated life well and always opened his door for us. My dad always looked up to him for his business and common sense. Prayers to Rita and Tom

Jim and Rita were my landlords at 45 Argyle Street in the City – they lived (I believe) in the basement. He was without a doubt the sweetest, kindest landlord I ever had – and very patient w/all my roommates and I in paying the rent. RIP dear Jim and my condolences to the Vitalone family
Sending LOVE from the Miskolcze Family. Tom and I have shared some of best moments together in our youth. Thank you for the brotherhood and friendship over the years.
A truly great and good man, respected by his extended family and community.
I started my real estate career with Jim’s real estate company Carriage House Properties before it joined Century 21. He taught me so much in how he
connected with people. My love and best wishes to Rita and Tom and family.
God Bless the Vitalone family
The families of Jim’s cousin, the late Teresa (Pietropaolo) Rizzotto, remember Jim as a gentle, soft spoken and mild mannered cousin. Our sincerest condolences and prayers to Rita, Tom and Jim’s brothers
