Craig A. Warren, affectionately known as “Scoop” to all, passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 75. He left this world after courageously facing the challenges of quadriplegia for 52 remarkable years, following a diving accident in his youth that resulted in a spinal injury.

Born on September 17, 1950, in Corning, New York, Scoop aka (Wondering Willie) spent his early childhood with his family and loved Monkey Run Creek. At age nine, they moved to Binghamton, and by age 11, the family settled in Fairport, New York, where he would spend much of his life. He was the son of Patricia A. (Warren) DuMond and John T. Warren, both of Corning.

Scoop was one of eight siblings. He is predeceased by his brother John Warren (who passed 10/07/22) and is survived by his wife Jean Warren. Craig is survived by his remaining six siblings: Gail Warren, Douglas DuMond,  Virginia (Ginger DuMond) Davis, Clifford DuMond, Jan DuMond, and Margaret DuMond McGuire.

Even after his life-changing accident, Scoop never let go of his joyfulness and his determined spirit. He remained an avid gardener at heart, tending to his gardens with determination. His garden was a testament to his resilience and love for nature.

One of his greatest joys was harvesting fruits and vegetables, canning them with care, and generously sharing the delicious results with his siblings, friends, and anyone lucky enough to be on the receiving end.

Scoop always strived for independence, but he also made sure those closest to him knew they were loved. His determination touched everyone. Scoop was an avid sports fan and devoted follower of the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Rams, and IndyCar racing. He regularly attended Formula One United States Grand Prix and IndyCar Grand Prix races at Watkins Glen. Scoop loved silly and useless facts to challenge your thought processes. Scoops’ clever and witty sense of humor were the cornerstones of his personality and character.

Scoop’s life was a beautiful example of strength, kindness, and unwavering positivity. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who have the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Scoop’s life will be scheduled soon.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memories shared, stories told, or acts of kindness
