Fairport, NY: After a courageous and grace-filled battle with cancer, Merio died peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the age of 87. Predeceased by her parents Milton and Eleanor Phalen Clark, she is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Charles (Chick) Wentworth; children Clark (Gina Rivaldo) Wentworth, Nancy (Dan) Loughran, John “Spider” Wentworth, Andrew (Sue Ann) Wentworth and Noel Wentworth; grandchildren Danielle and Dylan Wentworth, Anna and Siobhan Loughran, Michael Wentworth and Jacob Shelton, Sean and Nicole Brooks; great-granddaughter- to- be, Ella Marie; sister, Colleen Copenhaver of Penn Yan; a nephew, nieces, aunts and cousins.
A graduate of Penn Yan Academy, Merio spent most of her adult years in Rochester raising her family and working in the retail banking field. In retirement, she and Chick enjoyed living in Florida near her sister for nearly a decade. Returning to Rochester in 2012, her positive spirit and thoughtful manner allowed the blessing of new friendships at both the Legacy at the Fairways and Villages at Unity senior communities. An avid reader, exerciser, and puzzler, Merio will be most remembered for her sharp mind, gentle manner, and genuine interest in others.
The family wishes to express thanks for the compassion shown Merio and her family by Lifetime Care. Memorial contributions may be directed to Lifetime Care 3111 S. Winton Rd., Rochester, NY 14623 or The Humane Society at Lollypop Farm 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450. A celebration of Merio’s life will be held at a future date. (www.carswellandassociates.com)
